While being a total idiot and fidling with something while the power connected I dropped a tiny bit of metal on the motherboard. Big spark. Now the screen is really faint.

Swapped it for a second motherboard and it looks ok. Anything I can do with the old motherboard? (Soundcard in the second motherboard doesn't seem to work and I can't use RAM in it as it's a mk3 instead of this mk5)

Anyone got a Mk5 mobo for sale? :(

Somedays you'd be better off if you just stayed in bed.

:) How much power do u get on ur inverter? Is it also possible, that ur screen is dimmed with the keys? Had u checked the fuses? They have to have zero ohm. This are small white cubes with a sign something like 'F1' or 'F2' and so on beside the cube on the mobo...
If they are all ok, check the big transistors. U can exchange the transistors between the boards.
And don't forget to pull out the power and the accu. ;-)
