I came across this in my travels on the internet machine.
I am assuming this card will register the two CF cards as master/slave? Will that work in a 29? Anyone tried?

I read somewhere that using a regular cf card as an ssd isn't a good idea because it's a different kind of memory and won't be reliable.
Somewhere here I have a single cf to ide adapter. If I find it I'll send it to you to experiment with. -

I read that this card will at least work on a CF-M34.. Because the CF-M34 doesnt have an internal dvd-drive.. I dont know about the CF-29...

I have used the standard IDE to compact flash adapter in my CF 28 originally. Now it's in my CF M34. Make sure you get the good high speed card. That makes the biggest difference. Those 2.5 IDE big adapters come in single, dual and triple compact flash models. I got one dual model to try out but haven't got it installed in my M34 yet. Also have you seen the mini 64 gb ssd's out?

Shawn, thanks dude, but I'm gonna decline. I have 2 or 3 ide/cf adapters lying around. I've used them for network boxes nad in a Fujitsu Point 1600 I used to have. I just didn't know if the 29 would support 2 ide devices on the HDD bay.
And no, cf cards are not the optimal drive because they don't have the firmware built in to handle all the junk that regular SSD drives do, but when I started playing with them, a cheap SSD was $200 and a 8gb cf was $40. they are not the best solution for SSD, but they are a great amount faster than many platter based hdd's and typically a bit cheaper (but less so these days).
Let us know how that works out ador....
Thanks again, ya'll! -
I was using 4 gb and 8gb compact flash in three different CF-28's. I don't remember the exact speed but it was lot faster than the hard drive. I did some of the basic ssd tweaks, I think I left the page file alone as it only had 512 ram at the time.
Other stuff I tried was using a flash drive as booster like 7 and vista has built in using a program called ebooster. That failed, it wasn't until I started the program and the computer slowed down that I realized that it was usb 1.1 and it wasn't going to work. I have had good luck going though PCMCIA or factory built in sd card slot, for that program though. I got the dual adapter cheap and was just going to take both of the 8gb cards and put them on one adapter for a 16gb ssd for my Mk7 M34. It's still on the back burner for right now.
I would like to find some of these cheaper, they will need an adapter though.
