When I use my port replicator in the car the sound level is very low I can bearly here it from an external speaker that I have set up. All the volume conrtols in the computer are turn all the way up. THe sound is loud from the internal speaker when off the replicator.
Am I missing something or I just can not figure it out.

    Thanks

It may just be covering up the speaker. Try setting it on something like the port replicator to see how it muffles down the sound.

When I first reloaded the OS on my first CF-29 I set it on the couch and started to play a video to test everything out. Little to no sound. When I picked it up in a minute or two the sound was loud, then I did a bid DOH!

what kind of speaker do you have plugged into the port replicator? I have a dock (same as port replicator, but bigger) in my van, plugged into my stereo. the volume on the line out from the dock is pretty good.

If you have a crappy (and/or/also "high impedence") speaker, then it will be low volume as well.

Silly question: is the voume turned up on your speakers?

does the speaker say what impedance it has? for some reason i want to say those cb type speakers are higher impedance (which would cause them to be quieter for the same amount of power)

try a set of $1 speakers from the dollar store and see if it doesn't clear it up a bit.

I don't think I've used a 29 with anything but its own speaker but the SigmaTel audio properties panel of my Mk.5 indicates the output is stereo.
Not familiar with the port replicator's connections but I think you may need speakers with stereo plug rather than the mono plug I'd expect a CB speaker to use.
(stereo like IF's dollar store speakers?)

Here is a mod I thought about doing. I have the speaker/amp already.
It was a give away deal. It's made for any mp3 player and is the size of a pringles can. Something close to 4.5 volts should be easy to find.
It should be close in size for a cf 29 speaker. I figured on replacing the stock speaker with the pringles speaker/amp. I can get the speaker measurements if anyone is interested.
Here is a fleabay ad. $20. They are not available anywhere else that I know of. If someone wants one really bad, I may consider selling or trading mine.

    Pringles speaker amp

The external speaker reads 4ohms. I think it should be load. It's load on the police scanner.

Get an RF adapter for your car stereo and feed the audio from your Toughbook into that. The sound will blow you out of the car and will be great for watching movies, listening to MP3's and being able to hear the GPS!

It worked GREAT on my last mobile install!
