    Hey all,

According to this video, there is a virtual keyboard setting for the touchscreen (I tried searching but all I got were the obvious results about touchscreens and keyboards, but not the one I wanted)......

    ‪Panasonic ToughBook CF-29‬‏ - YouTube

And, as an aside, has anyone seen the youtube video/ newspaper review 'Tiger vs. Laptop'? Am sure everyone has, so I won't post it. :)

    Thanks

A little Google goes a long way:
Windows XP On Screen Keyboard ? - Windows 7 Forums
Edit: It's right there in W7 >start>all programs>accessories>ease of access. I don't have an XP machine running right now, but I would try "Accessibility Options" in the same location on your XP machine.
    CAP
EDIT: It is there in XP as well: >all programs>accessories>accessibility.
It can be dragged to the desktop of the fast launch tool bar.

On one of my CF-51's the keyboard connector is gone and the only way to use it is windows on screen keyboard. :D

Well, during my quick Google I did see something about adding a desktop shortcut for the XP OSK. I only have touch machines running Tablet or W7, don't use them on the full size machines, so I have never felt the need :D

Thanks guys, and it's not a little Google required, it's Gurulge needed! No idea what to search for, hence my asking here, at least what to search for in terms of words. I always research my off before asking, but there are times I can't get anywhere and need a bit of help, even with just search word combinations.

Bingo, got it working..... but is too small to type with fingers, likely a stylus is needed which I don't have and no options to enlarge it. Oh well.....

As you have discovered, the Micro$oft supplied OSK is not resizable (except the Win7 version) and is too small to use without a stylus.

There are two freeware resizable OSK's available that you could try.
Look at Click-N-Type or Free Virtual Keyboard

To get the OSK to appear at the logon screen you will have to edit the registry. There is a string value called "SYSTEM" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrentVersion\Winlogon. You will need to add the file name eg. "OSK.EXE"(without the quotes) to the value. If the SYSTEM value already has an entry, you add to it by adding a comma after the existing entry. It is probably easier to locate the OSK executable in the root directory so that you do not have to type in a long folder structure.

*** If you are not confident in making registry changes then do NOT attempt anything as this could cause you OS not to start. ***

I have picked up a few stylus from China/Japan for a couple bucks that work just fine and they can be stored in the PCMCIA slot with the door closed , plastic ones :)

Cool, will look into both. Thanks.

BTW, since I got my CF-29 on Monday, I haven't touched my newer/higher performance Dell except to extract GPS files, so I think it's safe to say I'm addicted, even with the hard to type on keyboard. Am I one of you now? Lol

"To open On-Screen Keyboard, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Accessibility, and then click On-Screen Keyboard."

You can also change the Font Style/Size and keyboard types (Enhanced or Standard; Regular or Black Layout).

Panasonic has an on-screen keyboard bundled in with the MEIWDS server for the CF-VDW07 remote display. Pretty sure it's on the Canadian site, maybe also the Japan Pany support site. It is resizeable and will work without the MEIWDS server software installed.
