Hi folks,
I've recently acquired two CF-29s. One TS and one non-TS. both are identical Mk2s, the only difference is the touchscreen.
The case and port covers on the non-TS machine is virtually brand new, while the TS machine is quite hammered. (I know....I kinda like the "used" look, but not that much.)
my question is, can i simply swap the screen from the TS machine to the non-TS machine? (obviously installing the drivers, etc after)
From what i can see in the Service Manual covering disassembly, it should be quite straightforward.
Am I missing something obvious?
Slainte!

It's a easy swap
Remember to remove power adapter+ battery
You should have no issues

Aye, it wasn't too bad.
got everything swapped on the first try, with no left over parts.
cept now, the latch on the TS machine doesn't close properly. That's a project for tomorrow. -
Before you tighten up the hinges screws and the two at the back make sure its align and in place.

cool, i tried that once, i'll give it another whirl in the AM. it doesn't seem to be "springy" anymore.

Ya, if you look at the back of the closure, you will see the U-shaped spring piece that slips into a hole on the lid. Make sure that goes in first (you kind of "close" the latch beyond its normal close position with the lid still split a little to get the spring in) then tighten down your screws. The lid needs to still be split about 1/8th-1/4 inch on the front. You can tighten the bottom screws down (by the hinge) but only about 75%.
CF-29 touchscreen swap?
