I have ran a memory test, hard drive sector tests, all Passing with flying colors.
Sometimes laptop will just freeze up with squares on the display. Forcing me to battery pull, or hard power down with switch.
I I have also reinstalled windows Xp thinking that might be the issue. So is there something I can check to see if there is a driver that's not supported or something? The laptop is a mark 1 CF29 With 512mb memory, 80gb HD it is touch screen.

Does this happen only after you have been running it for a while?
Is the 2 sticks of memory or just 1? -
-
That means it must have 256mb on board.
Try removing the ram stick and see what it does then. -
Try acronis drive check. I'm not sure if it will work but it should read the SMART data and give you an idea of drive health. Since I started using it I have been surprised how many bad drives I see. It is a free download.

Also, I have a CF30 coming in the mail that has windows 7 pro. I am pretty excited to use Windows 7.Last edited: Jan 29, 2016 -
According to Acronis the HDD is at 18% health.

Pretty sure I have a used 100gb IDE.
This seems appropriate for your fallen soldier.

yeah ...
ide drives that one finds today are going to have a fair percentage of them being bad order .
i have about 10 of them i pulled from scrapped laptops ...
only one is worth keeping and then for what ?
man , if there was a way i would use one of those sata to ide converters and go from there . -
I test mine and I bought some new ones from a seller in China. All at 100% or they get trashed.

must have been a very good price .

Yep and they were new drives.
