    hello fellow rugged junkies, I have a recently aquired cf-29,extremely clean condition. Win XP SP3 I was told it is a touchscreen model but its not working at all. I have enabled it in the bios, but do not see it in the device manager. Not sure now if it IS a touchscreen model. Can it be determined by the full model # ?
    CF-29EQKGSKM. Also have an intermittant condition whereby the display goes totally erratic upon first booting up, mouse icon jumping around, no mouse control, pop up menus opening and closing, only solution is to power down and try again, then it seems fine. Also the fcn f2/f3 for screen brightness has no effect. Could I have a bad touch panel? Thanks in advance.Also would like to know if Win 7 will work on a CF-29 MK2

    E = Mk 2, Intel® Pentium Mobile 718 1.3 GHz Processor
    Q = 13.3" XGA Touch Screen, Dual Hi-Gain Antenna Connectors
    K = 40GB HD & 256MB RAM
    G = Floppy Disk Drive, 10/100 Ethernet
    S = CDMA Verizon (no voice) WWAN & GPS
    K = Windows XP Professional w/SP2
    M = North America distribution

    Use this to see if you have all the correct drivers loaded:

    Take special note of this one:

    GPS Registry Patch Application
    It is a possibility.
    Yes; but why?!?!? :confused: ;)

    You can get the factory Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 Series Product Recovery CD-ROM set from Heartland Services, Inc., Panasonic's authorized Parts and Service Cebter.

    Sometimes, Forum members have the sets for sale in the ToughBook Buy Sell and Trade Forum, or sometimes they show up on ebaY™.

    There is also the "Official Support Download Center of the Drivers, Manuals and FAQs" for the Mk2 CF-29.

    Here's an interesting alternative: Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 Drivers Recovery Restore, SP2, Password Reset, Utilities

    And; "No," I haven't tried this one: I have all the factory sets for my Mk2, Mk3 and Mk5 CF-29s. :)

    As to reinstalling the correct drivers; "If all else fails, read the Instructions." ;) :rolleyes:

    Hit F2 while booting, that will take you to the bios

    Look in the bios tabs...usually in the advanced tab and disable the GPS, for the time being to stop the crazy mouse issue

    One of the members here will most likely link a gps patch file , so you can correct the issue properly, so that later you can use the gps

    Looks like VampireKitty tried Tan-in-a-Can... unsuccessfully.

    [EDIT] You think that's creepy, go look at the mutant kitty in JOSEA's avatar. *Shudder*

    If you would have read the FAQ, you would see that the configurator is where we get most of that info from: Panasonic Mobile Computing Configure Products

    Your's isn't on there though :(

    Because it was a Special Order; and since the Panasonic Web Master began screwing with the Configurator, S.O. machines no longer show up in the Search. :mad:

    Nevertheless:

    CF-29EQN27KM

    E = Mk 2; Pentium Mobile 718 1.3GHz Processor
    Q = 13.3" XGA Touch Screen, Dual Hi-Gain Antenna Connectors
    N = 40GB HDD & 512MB RAM
    27 = Special Ordered Configuration (buyer?)
    K = Windows XP Professional
    M = North America Distribution

    I have two S.O. machines; CF-29HTM50BM (former SBC/at&t) and CF-29EWPNZBM (former SAPD): both used to show up; now they don't. :(
