does the Mhz on the onboard RAM for a CF-29L and CF29-H have to match the Mhz on a new RAM module. I am looking to order about 300 new RAM modules for our Toughbooks and my contact in my IT dept just wanted to be sure of the compatibility.

No. the onboard ram runs at a certain speed (one which I don't know but Teo probably would know)

The H model is gonna be DDR1 - you can use 333 or 400
The L model is gonna be DDR2 - you can use 533 for that.

Just remember: the system runs at the speed of the slowest RAM in the system; to-wit: the speed of the permanent RAM on the motherboard.

No problemo; as JB stated, the SODIMM upgrade RAM modules are backwards compatible with the permanent RAM's speed. :)
