    Hi Everyone,

Sorry my first post is a problem...

I think I may have messed something up. I have a CF-29L which has the built-in radio in the bay with the battery.

I purchased an after-market GPS from customtoughbook.com. I installed it per the instructions on their site. The instructions require the GPS be installed where the radio sits and is connected. So I removed the radio and all it's connections.

Now it appears that none of my COM ports are even connected. I ran several diagnostics that seem to indicate that the Com ports are simply not connected. What could I have done? The ribbon connector that goes to the external COM port seems to be connected fine. I reseated it just in case...

The Blue-tooth add-in that came with the GPS is functioning fine.

I removed the GPS, and still the com ports seem missing. Not bad drivers, simply gone. The COM1 port shows up in the disconnected devices list.

I put the radio and connections back in and get the same problem.

    Ugh.

OK. I got the COM ports back by resetting the bios back to defaults.

    GPS is still not working.

OK. Got the GPS working by enabling a com ports one at a time with a reboot between. Thanks for all the helpful posts on other forum threads that lead me to an answer for my situation.

When you do any changes that are com port related , wwan , gps ,you must reset the bios for the changes to take effect
The reason the bluetooth worked in this case is that it is hooked up using a usb internal connection
