    Hey Folks,

I'm thinking buying memory directly from Heartland may be overpriced.

I also know not all brands will work.

Does anyone have a trusted brand of memory they use for upgrades? A good discount supplier?

    Thanks much!

    Too many good brands :)
    All good brands will work.
Also your laptops have different types of RAM (DDR2, DDR3).
Amazon is one of the best suppliers :)

No maybe about it...about 3 to 4 times more. They are many types but a lot of they use Samsung chips on them. New will cost you more but sometimes Newegg. com has great deals on them. The CF-30 uses DDR2 5300 and DDR2 6400. The CF-31 uses DDR3.

Thanks guys. Speedy replies as always.

The reason I am asking is that I got some name brand memory and the laptop would not even recognize it. I had to revert back to the original 2GB I had.

What model of 30 do you have MK1 , 2 or 3. I have run all types of brands in the 30's I have and never a problem....Remember 32bit OS will only see 4GB and 64 it will see 8GB

My CF-30's are Mk2. My CF-31 is a MK1. The 31 is the one I tried the RAM with. I usualy buy Corsair memory. I bought a 4GB stick hoping for it to see 3.

Both of the 30's only have 1GB. I need to give them a good boost as well.
One will sit in my M925A1 with my PLGR GPS connected to it.

Samsung is what I recommend. I but them in lots of 10.
You are better off using 2x2GB sticks then 1 because of the dual channel memory advantage and if you want you can trick x86 systems into see/using more ram.

I think the problem is you've bought DDR3L (1,35V) memory for your CF-31, while you need 1,5V.
    Extrasensory message :))

My usual supplier doesn't stock Samsung memory but I looked and the Amazonians have it.

I'll peek at the DDR3 I bought already tonight and see what the voltage is. Great info as usual.

One of the 30's has a screen that won't change brightness but I'll get after that later this week.
