    CF-30 - Hotkeys/Sound - Not Working

    Hey all,

    First off, thanks for existing! Thanks to this forum I have most of the hardware working again after a clean install of XP.

    Model: CF-30 (mk1)

    I'm now stuck on two things:

    1. I have tried every combination of the hotkey drivers & applications on the panasonic site and can't get the hotkeys to work at all. The wireless switch works fine.

    2. I can't get sound working at all. I have tried all of the sound-related drivers on the website in all kinds of combinations. In dev. manager SigmaTel CODEC shows up & the audio jack works - just not the spkr. Could it be that since the hotkeys don't work the sound is defaulted mute?

    Thanks for any info!

    Addition: There are no unknown devices in device manager apart from the Intel Quick Resume Technology.

    This problem very similat that happened on my CF-19 Before...
    Maybe you should check you BIOS version...Between Vista and XP is different may cause some problems on FN-KEY

    Thanks for the reply.

    BIOS should be fine though. The sound worked before I wiped XP and installed Fedora and then installed XP again. The bios was never altered.

    The loading of drivers, especially the HK one's are a PITA. Panny is in the middle of changing all this around. Even they realize it is not easy.

    Have you printed off the PDF on how to install the drivers on your exact unit? If not, do it and start at the top. If you follow each step on each driver you will get it.

    Were does one find this mystical tome of driver installation? I have some similar issues with my CF-19 still.

    From the Japan download site
    If you search for drivers for your model you will find a pdf file that has the list of drivers available for each model

    Just in case someone else finds this thread in a search, as I did, and drivers aren't the culprit.

    In another thread someone stated the obvious - maybe the speaker is toast or disconnected. I've been knocking myself out trying to get sound working in Linux for a week or two (spanning a bajillion different distros). After reading the aforementioned thread I plugged a set of headphones in. Damn, that was so low-tech I'm still kicking myself. LOL

    I guess I'll doublecheck the connection and/or order a new speaker - unless there's a spare floating around somewhere here.
