    Hi all,

Been reading this forum for a while now. Thank for the entertainment, information and interesting ...

Not often I get stumped but I am at the moment. I upgraded my CF-30 HDD to a 120gig, reinstalled XP from scratch, loaded all the drivers, and all fine, almost.

The BUT... there is always just one of these, after making sure the Bluetooth is engaged in the BIOS, the front switch is on and the software switch is on I fail to get the Bluetooth Manager to come up. Insert a bluetooth dongle and it pops up immediately and works a treat but the internal bluetooth appears invisible. It worked before with the old drive but now nothing.

I'm sure there is something obvious that I can't see but it is beyond me.

Any help would be appreciated. I am quite new to the CF-30 but the bluetooth worked before just not after the fresh install.

    Cheers,

    Fabian

    Fabian,

    Welcome to the forum!

What you need is the software... And it can be a pain to find but is usually on one of Panny's sites in some country. A little too large to email, but is downloadable. You may try the links available in the Official CF-30 thread... or one of the other stickies... But if it is not there PLEASE post where you find it and I'll make sure it gets listed for the next person.

You want to read about PARADISE?

Read THIS about Tom Neale.... A different age and time, yes.... But I think every man would LOVE to do this... Whether on an island (Tropical preferably) or in the mountains or plains or...

This is a GREAT read by the way.... You'll be sucked into it!

My apologies for the dual hijacking of the thread.... :)

Please let us know about the BT software and if it fixes it!

    Thanks guys,

All sorted. I had the BT update from the Panna official website but it would't open and decompress. I figured it was what I needed so I pulled out the hammer and persuaded it to open (winrar). Installed the drivers and although a bit slow it went through and now all works... the BT mouse, GPS, headphones, etc.

The beauty of this is that while sailing through weather (Rain and salt spray), I can keep my Toughbook in the cockpit fully working even with a mouse.

Anyone have any ideas on who supplies waterproof rodents? Maybe we should call them frogs (no tail and amphibious). I may start experimenting with clear sicaflex and soft plastic or just get used to the idea of throwing dead frogs at cheeky crew and grabbing a new one.

I'm thinking of getting one of the internal GPS units from the guy in Norway. Rick are they what you use? Or have you found something better? Anyone have experience with these units?

By the way I'm not in Melbourne. The weather there is just about the worst in Oz. Last time I was there a few years back in late November it was so cold we had to buy more clothes to say warm then it got sticky hot and an hour later it poured rained and that was just day one. After three days of that rubbish I figured the good eateries were not good enough and we have never had the inclination to return. My last home was in Port Macquarie which has just about the best weather in the world. That was a hard act to beat but now we live aboard a yacht and mostly follow the sweet weather. Currently I'm located in God's Country at 23deg 12' 45"S : 150deg 58' 06''E. The air temp is 25degC and water temp at 21degC.

Now that I have this Bluetooth thing sorted I'm can go catch dinner! Oh, don't forget this is winter! Do I sound like I'm rubbing it in? Sorry about that but after living in Canberra (translate as very cold then very hot), and working my ar** off building and supporting mainframes and networking systems. Putting in 70+ hour weeks for years I figure it's time to enjoy the good life for a few years until we get sick of it anyway. That will take a long time me thinks!

    Thanks again for the help,

    Cheers,

    Fabian
