I've gotten an incredible amount of information from this website and was hoping someone could help me with my CF-30 Non-Touchscreen. My lexan front screen has a crack in it from where someone closed with something lying on the keyboard. The actual LCD seems fine, and I have done a search of the forum and found a couple of references to swapping out the lexan screen but nobody actually has step by step instructions or a source for the screen. I was also wondering if I could use the screen from a CF-29 touchscren.

    Thanks

I could tell you how to replace one for a Cf-29. I just replaced a Touchscreen after dinner. Take out a few screws and go slow.
But.... see if you can lay your hands on a maintenance manual for your unit.
One tip is when you remove the cracked screen you want to have the unit warm and just push slowly on the lens. They have forevermore good adhesive. By pushing slowly it gives time for the adhesive to release without cracking the lens further. If you can encourage the gasket (for want of the proper term) to stay on the bezel that would be a good thing. Possibly nibble at the adhesive with a razor blade turned into the glass if you get the picture. In other words don't cut the gasket.
Good luck and get a manual. :)
Also FWIW I have been using a CF-72 screen in the CF-29 ($50) for a while now. The Touchscreen was not compatible but the lens fit well. It's possibly a tiny bit thinner.

Thanks Gork!, I just decided to jump in and unscrewed all the screws in the lid. I was able to push out the lexan panel and it came out easily without removing the adhesive. Now I just need to source out a new panel. Anyone have any ideas?

You can look on ebay or wwwyheartlandsi.com (You must call them)... Back in the CF-28 days I have known of some that have gone to their local framing store to get a piece of sheet lexan. Not as nice looking but gets the job done cheaply. Personally I'd go for ebay or heartland....

Well I have tried to source out a piece of Lexan of similar size but have been unable to find something that thin locally. Since Heartlandsi has a $20.00 handling fee per order, is there anyone who makes orders regularly and is willing to order parts for a fee?
