    Hello,
I have been on this site for a few years, and want to thank everyone for their post and replys,I have done many mods to my Cf-28, from adding more ram (then panasonic said you can) getting all the way to 768meg that really helped the machine run XPpro.
Also getting the factory GPS/touchscreen to work, and with no eratic mouse .
I had bought a dell d430 and missed the toughbook way of worry free computer use.The dell is ok but fragile once you get to using a toughbook.
I just bought a CF-30 mk1 , and I need some help or advice with the DVD mod.
I can see that you can mod what appears to be a CF-51 dvd to work in the CF-30,can you use the cf-73 dvd also?
Is this just a matter of cutting off the latch? Is anything else required to make this work.
I have seen a few people selling them on ebay they look like the cf-51 or the CF-73 drives. so I thought I would try this to get a DVD in my machine and then upgrade to a DVD burner for a cheaper way to get there.
I did figure how to install Win 7 from a USB, and also used that USB to install MS office. It requires Ultra Iso but is quick and easy to do.I can post a how to if wanted.
    Thank you
    chuck

Welcome to the nut house :D .
Yes both drives will work just cut off the latch/lock. I would pickup a DVD Multi drive (burner) like I did and you are good to go :) . To put another burner in you would have to do the cd-rom mod to the burner to get it to boot to load the OS. There is a thread on this but not sure where it is . Good luck.

    :D FOUND IT :D
