    You're absolutely right...

    I bought the laptop in Canada. I can only buy these from foreign countries, because in Italy there are at best a dozen of ToughBook users, afaik...
    The same is for the repair shops, most of them just install OSs, remove viruses or install video cards on PCI Express slots...

    Anyway, should I buy another antenna/module, what is best? The standard ones or those U-Blox 6 modules I often read about?

    You're right. But solving the problem remotely - it's like to operate on the photo without knowing the condition of the patient.

    @The Spartan Guy
    Yep, you can use the wi-fi antenna cable like @gray-beard says. It would work.

    what ? you mean the signal can travel for thousands of miles but it can't make that little jump of a couple of inches ?
    o_O :p :rolleyes:

    if you are inexperienced at GA soldering (gnats arse) , hedge the bet and replace the coax/antenna as a unit .
    the insulation is a very close relative of PTFE (teflon) , it is challenging to work with .
    these type of *things* can turn into an animosity generator pretty quick .

    Yes you can repair a bad cable, I have done it but only because I had the small (microscopic) shrink tubes left over from before I retired from repairing under tile heat cables.
    They were also a very small shielded coaxial type cable.

    Thank you very much everyone. You absolutely rock!

    @ohlip, can I extract all the suggestions and step-by-step troubleshooting and post a mini-guide for people with issues like mine?

    Update: thank you very much everyone! Problem finally solved using gray beard's suggestion. I bought exactly that cable and did some dirty work.... Now I have a fully functional GPS module that performs great!

    I would edit the title adding the tag [SOLVED], but I was unable to.

    Again, if ohlip authorizes me I'll post a thread with the complete troubleshooting for the stickies.
