I am looking for a CF-30. I'll probably just get one on ebay, unless someone here can convince me otherwise. I'm using a CF-28STJGZDM now and love it. I know it's slow but it did what I needed. It will not run my new BLOATED accounting program, so have to get something else.
I have found a few CF30's on ebay, but I have a few questions.
There are a couple with a screenshot of the bios, but the model # can't be found on Panny Confi.
One screenshot shows 4 gb RAM but Panny Config says it came with 512. Is this possible?

Is it possible to a backlit keyboard on any CF-30? Is the third connection present on all but not used on non-backlit?

Please delete this section if it gives away secrets to buying on ebay:
I have purchased several CF28's in the past that were sold as not touchscreen only to find out that they were not set up correctly. Is this still common on the 30's? Found sereval that the seller says nontouch but cofig says it is touch.

Great info on here. I really appreciate the last 3 days of reading this forum.

    Hi Coach

CF-30 is a great choice. All MK’s 1,2,3, can have 4gb of ram. Only 3.24 GB will be seen with the 32 bit OS limitation. All MK’s can take the lighted keyboard too.

    MK1 is Core Duo
    MK2 is Core 2 7500
    MK3 is Core 2 9300

My favorite is the MK2. The MK3’s switched to the American Megatrends which seems to hang at the Panasonic boot screen…Even after a trip to Heartland for service.

A lot are sold on the bay as non touch screens. Perhaps do to the high failure rate.

Trust the model number more than the seller, but be prepared to possibly get a bad touchscreen. I think mk2 and up have less touchscreen problems.

As stated above the CF-30MK1 Touchscreens have a high failure rate. :(

The MK2's & MK3's have a different Touchscreen Panel with less problems But....how essential is a Touchscreen....the Touchscreen models are 1,000 nit rating & the Non-Touchscreen are 500 nit rating.... it makes a difference if used outdoors!!....if the Touchscreen is not essential, use the fact that it doesn't work to drive the price down. :)

Oh....please delete this section if it gives away secrets to buying on teabay. :D

    Good hunting.

The emissive keyboard can be added to any CF-30,32 bit os on mk1 only. You can put 64 bit os on mk2 up. personally i like the mk2 the best so far. i haven't had a mk3 yet.

I agree with others. MK1 have a high touchscreen failure rate (my did). I have two MK2s and they are great and quite fast. Add an SSD and they fly with XP on them.
