Greetings, Gentlemen.
First of all, I want to thank everyone here: you are really the most complete source for every solution about ToughBooks! Linux and Windows installs, hardware modding and so on... I did everything (and everything always worked) following the guidelines of this forum.
Ok, let's go: I have a ToughBook CF-30 MK2, Windows 7 64Bit installed, everything used to work fine, but one bad rainy day the touchscreen stopped working without permission.
It was pretty strange: it was normally detected by BIOS and OS, but nothing worked. I opened the lid (A THOUSAND screws) and got to the infamous DFUP1580ZA touchscreen board. I just moved it slightly (my idea was a loose cable contact) and it simply resurrected the touch panel.
About a week later it stopped working again. I tried to disconnect and reconnect the cables on the mini board, but no luck...
Obviously, disconnecting the panel caused the touchscreen not to work (even if OS still detected it), and disconnecting the board caused touchscreen not to be detected by OS.
Now, my question is: is the problem caused by a faulty/dead board, so I just need to buy another one or, basing on your personal experiences, the problem is somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for your help, kind regards,
Giovanni
