Hi everyone...I'm new here so go easy on me![]()
So I just acquired a CF-30 K with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed and cannot find a touchscreen driver that works.
Currently, the touchscreen shows up as a HID compliant mouse.
Looking forward to some help on this. Thanks!

could you post the complete model number and MK number ?
hmmm ... @others
didn't all the models that used W7 have "professional" installed ?
(is this a non-factory install of an OS ?)
i am hoping that the TS itself is ok .UNCNDL1 likes this. -
Model # is: CF-30KCP542M
According to the sticker on the palm rest, it was originally a Vista machine. -
Model Number:
CF-30KCP542M
Status:
DISCONTINUED
MSRP:
$2,200
Description: WinXP (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo SL9300 1.60GHz (Centrino2), vPro, 13.3" XGA Touch, 160GB, 2GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, TPM1.2, Bluetooth, GPS, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:GPS), Gobi, Emissive Backlit Keyboard, No Drive, Toughbook Preferred
Touchscreen should work from Win 7, go here http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-driverdownloads?sc_sp=business-category_featuresAd_support-computerstablets_ Driver Downloads and download the driver bundle, right click and run as admin once downloaded. Then let us know. also, boot to bios and lets see what the touchscreen is set at. -
Have done that 3x since yesterday, but I will try once more.
-
don't bother, it's not going to work. Lets see what the bios says.
-
for fun ...
go back into the device manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation points .
have you ran the driver pack(s) as "administrator" ? -
OK... What can I tell you about the BIOS?
-
yeah ... the bios ...
hey , wasn't this the machine that without the registry fix and the TS turned on in bios , it made the cursor bounce around like a fart on a griddle ? -
No exclamations. I am running it now as administrator. I did not in the past as I only have one profile set up and it's an administrator profile.
-
can you take some photos of the bios pages ?
up load the images to (say) photobucket and post the picture links here . -
In the bios see what the touchscreen is set at, I have 2 here the same model and it's set at auto and in tablet mode right now. There is no bios update for the Mk3.
-
Try this link to pics:

Ok, mine are set to auto, tablet mode. Try that
-
Ok going to try that now, but how is that going to make the touchscreen not report itself as an HID mouse?
-
It's been awhile, but is this the driver you downloaded and then installed?:
TouchscreenDriver_v1.0.1.0_30K_30L_W732_ss6980.exe [0.54 mb]
Try right clicking in device manager, and un installing (remove) the driver.
Re-boot and let windows do it's thing.
If that does not work, try adding the driver and manually install it.

SAFN linked it above: http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-driverdownloads?sc_sp=business-category_featuresAd_support-computerstablets_ Driver Downloads
You need to go through the steps and pick your model number, etc. under Individual Drivers:
1. All
2. CF-30
3. CF-30 K/L mk3
4. Win 7
5. English
hit the search button and look for your touch screen driver
This video shows how to install drivers (different model but procedure applies):
Here's another site that might help with the drivers:
http://www.toughbookdrivers.com/cf-30-drivers/
Also, did you go into device manager and right click on the driver?Last edited: Jul 4, 2017 -
Thanks for that @UNCNDL1 , I have been installing drivers ever since drivers came into existence.
The issue is, as I explained in my original question is "where do I find a 64-bit version"? The 32-bit version that you point to will not work with my 64-bit system. What am I missing here? -
You'll have to play around and get one that will work. Windows should find one for you.
Have you removed the driver and rebooted and then see what it finds?
You might try looking through the toughbook thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/the-official-cf-30-thread.264961/
It's possible to get it working, however with your model you are better off using 32 bit win 7.
Happy searching -

yeppers ...
there is really nothing to gain by using a 64 bit OS on these machines ... unless your software is made to only run on 64 bit and you have a large amount of data you need to crunch that can be stashed in ram .
i have a '30 and a '31 ... i run W7/32 on both ... it/they serve(s) me well .
hey , that wiki is a good deal ...
i used a list from *somewhere* and it was a PITA to decipher .Last edited: Jul 5, 2017 -
I hope the OP has a working touchscreen. Not sure if he bought it that way with Win 7 Ultimate but we'll have to wait and see if OP chimes in again with results.
-
Best way is live boot Linux mint, screen will work if it's any good.

Well... I'm back. Installed a 32 bit version of windows 7 that I had lying around. I still have the same problem. The mouse snaps back to the lower left corner and the touchscreen driver shows up as an HID-compliant mouse driver (under mice and other pointing devices) When I try to change the driver to the Tscreen driver in the util folder, it gives me an error.
@safn1949, can you tell me more about how linux functions on this machine? What do I loose? Pros/cons? -
You have a screen problem then, but first boot to bios and got to advanced, serial port settings and disable gps. Reboot and try the touchscreen

Linux
Create a live cd
Remove hard drive caddy
boot from the cd.
test touchscreen.
remove cd and replace your hard drive caddy
No changes will be made to the hard drive.
Reboot into windows from the hard drive.
I like Zorin for a Linux version. It's simple to use. Looks similar to Windows.
Download it from distrowatch. -
I started talking with Jeff about Linux and he recommended Linux MX16... I have tried it live on a CF-74 and then on a CF-30... Which I installed it to as I had a blank 80GB hard drive lying around.
It picks up EVERY driver. But I did notice that t he touchscreen retreats to the right side when used... So I need to fix that first before I start playing around with the calibration utility Jeff told me about last night.
Shawn... Can you try Zorin live like I did MX16? Does it install all the drivers automatically? MX16 also looks similar to Winders... And it appears I can further enhance it/change it via the settings to make it even more so. I haven't had a chance to play with it much.. Maybe today... -
Yes you can run Zorin Live.
Yes it auto installs all the drivers. The passengers are on their own..

Advantages over M16? Or... Just a different flavor?
-
Different flavors with a Debian twist.
It's my go to now, I've migrated over from LMDE Mint.
There are great videos on their site.

I'm on a 19Mk2 right now running Peppermint 8 and the touchscreen is perfect.

devil's advocate ... linux mint19.xx
heh heh heh -
W7 does not require a added driver for toughbooks.
Calibration is by Windows. Tap the [Superkey] then type cali.......until calibration comes up. Sometimes you need the check box if the saved calibration numbers are way out of range.
With proper setup if the computer is set to tablet in bios you will get two hid devices...under HID. If bios is set to Touch you will get one Fujitsu driver in HID.
HID is Human Interface DeviceShawn likes this. -
No driver...
Is that like the driverless cars they are testing here in Pittsburgh? For real.. -
No additional drivers as far as the touch goes. The necessary driver is built in to Windows 7 just like Linux has most drivers in the kernel. (except calibration)
If the touch/tablet refuses to calibrate in Windows something is wrong with the hardware.
What I'm trying to say here is:
A properly installed operating system does not benefit with random throw in drivers.UNCNDL1 likes this. -

Rick,
Zorin is just a different flavor.
It's designed to be easier to use. With limited or no terminal needed.
Zorin 12 Ultimate comes with almost every program you could need pre installed. -
-
Yes. It's worth the $30.
It can be installed on as many computers as you want. All open source and free.
I think that $30 gets you some tech support also.
If you want to be sure, download the free basic edition and try it first. -
