Hello All, I've been searching this forum for a definitive Panasonic part# for a sled kit that will handle either a Novatel or Sierra Wireless HSDPA Mini PCI card and haven't found one.

I ordered up the GOBI kit based on the part numbers provided in another post for my CF-30K but am still hoping there is another answer for my other units.

From what I'm reading the CF-WEW30008 kit I ordered is only for the GOBI.

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Alex

Thanks, the challenge is I already have a stack of EU860D's, buying the kit with the modem card isn't an option unfortunately.

Your are set, man! you already have a Rev A sled. Just replace the existing modem install all the necessary software to support the gobi card. Go to this site but you need to register. The gobi support is right there for you service.

So if I understand this correctly when I called Heartlands and ordered the GOBI kit (sled (CF-WEW30008) and modem (T77Z039.02)) I can use that sled with a Novatel/Sierra Wireless HSDPA card and return the GOBI modem?

Panasonic Canada won't provide the part# for the sled they sell with the Novatel modem shown above in the pricing so it's still a bit fuzzy.

I think what Teo means is that you may be able to use your existing sled and that you need to replace the modem with a Gobi modem.

Panasonic/Heartland has gotten VERY picky about what parts they sell to the general public now. Apparenty... They have sold kits only to have their tech support dept inundated with calls asking, "Where does THIS part go?"

Regular parts they sell... But stuff that comes with 30+ parts (even though you may not use all of them) they NOW require that you send it in for installation in their offices. It makes sense actually. Unless you are thoroughly familiar with Toughbooks and their parts... You can get WAY lost with one of their "kits!"

I've been dealing with what seems to be a similar problem. Did you ever sort out something that works for you. I started a thread asking about the Gobi 1000 modem and if anyone has been able to use it in Canada. Been getting some help but no solution yet. :(

I realized that CDMA support wasn't required and I wanted better HSPA rates so I went with a CFWEW30007 sled and a Sierra Wireless 8700 modem (AirPrime MC8700 HSPA+ embedded module).

I hear you, the CFWEW30008 was a nightmare to assemble but the CFWEW30007 came fully assembled, just had to fasten down the 8700, attached the RF cables, and stick the anti-static sticker. *However* I don't know if the CFWEW30007 is available to the general public since they want to pair it with the Novatel card and sell it as a complete package.

Also I had to change the DIP switch settings on the board to get the 8700 working, if you need them I can pull it out and post them.

I'm hoping the sled will be good for the upcoming dual carrier HSPA here in Canada, just have to source a compatible card when they become available.
