I have several CF-30s that are all running Win 10 (v. 1903) with no problem. However, one of my CF-30s (mk 2, 64-bit) gives me the BSOD and the message KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE whenever it reboots. I've run all the checks (memory, files, etc.) and I think the problem is with the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family WDDM 1.1 display adapter, which I don't think is compatible with Win 10. I think the KERNEL error is being caused by this driver.

Device Manager only shows this entry under Display Adapters. There is no entry for Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, so I wonder if disabling or uninstalling this WDDM 1.1 driver will cause any problems.

I tried manually updating the Intel driver to WDDM 2.6 (for Win 10 ver 1903), but got an error message that the computer did not meet the minimum requirements for installing it. I got the same error message when trying WDDM 2.5 and 2.0. I think that's because these more recent drivers are designed to work with more modern computers with upgraded chips. The Intel WDDM 1.1 Chipset was apparently designed for Win XP or Vista and Intel does not have an updated Chipset Family driver for Win 10 applications.

So my question is: Does anyone else have this problem and is there a workaround for it? Before I disable or uninstall the Intel WDDM 1.1 driver, I'd like to be sure it won't mess up my CF-30 display adapter or anything else.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Dave

Swap your HDD's between similar CF-30's to check whether it's a hardware or software(or hdd) problem. Maybe it's just a RAM etc problem you can't diagnose.

I appreciate the suggestion. If I can gin up enough courage to mess with it, I might swap out the hard drives and see what happens. For now the problem is more of a recurring annoyance and a nuisance than (I hope) a serious issue, as the machine does reboot up fine after the initial BSOD.

Just a thought...from what I remember when upgrading some of the older units to Windows 7, directions called for flashing bios to Vista instead of XP, before proceeding to upgrade.
Might not matter in your case but you said you have several units all running Win10 just fine, except for the Mk2.
Also, back then it was hit or miss on which drivers to load to get things working on a Mk2, and there was a specific order to follow.

Thanks UNCNDL1. What's interesting to me is that Panasonic doesn't list the CF-30 as upgradable to Win 10, but I have 3 machines all running it. Two of them are Mk2 versions, but the one with the problem has the Intel Mobile 4 Series Express Chipset Family WDDM 1.1 display adapter driver. I think that's the problem because I originally had difficulty upgrading it to Win 10 because of a driver incompatibility issue for the Intel chipset. I forget the workaround that worked at the time, but that's why I think this is probably the source of the recurring BSOD problem. I'd like to disable it or uninstall it if possible, but it's the only display adapter listed in Device Manager so I don't want to mess it up completely. So I've lived with this nuisance for a while, but thought someone might know of a better fix. I appreciate the help.

    from here

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...vers-for/9d3d7463-cee5-4ffb-89a2-d63ca026c47e

It says use win 8 drivers.

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Unfortunately, there are no drivers for Windows 10.

I suggest you to download Windows 8/8.1 drivers from the manufacturer's website and install it in Compatibility Mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:
    1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
    2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
    3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.
    4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

Thanks for the suggestion Shawn. I downloaded the driver (.cab file) and extracted it. The only "Setup" file is "igdlh.inf". When I right click it, the only options are "Extract" or "Copy". There is no "Properties" tab. Am I looking at the wrong file? Thanks.

As I recall... If your CF-30 originally came with XP, then you need to flash the BIOS to the W7 version or W7 & W10 will not work correctly. As for drivers... You can start out with W8 drivers and see what you get (Once W10 is loaded) or poke around here to see if others found the solution.

He has a MK2 Rick. The CF-19's and 30's MK1 had to be updated..
