I am ready to shoot something here!

I have a customers CF-30/MK2/Touch (CF-30FTSAXAM) and he has ATT. His sim card will NOT WORK PERIOD in this CF-30. That same SIM card works FINE in my CF-31 (With the GOBI 2000 and the 7.02 connection manager). On the CF-30 I’ve tried 4 different modems. 3 different EU860D’s and 1 EU870D. All 4 are giving an “ERROR 668: The connection was terminated” error code from the ATT connection manager. The signal is fine etc etc etc.

I've tried ATT connection manager version 6.12 AND 7.02. SAME DEAL

To make matters more confusing. If I take MY ATT SIM CARD and put it in the CF-30 it connects and works JUST FINE an ANY of the 4 modems. ADDITIONALLY: My co-workers ATT SIM card ALSO works on this CF-30 on ALL 4 MODEMS.

I was at ATT for 1.5 HOURS this freakin morning and they replaced the SIM card TWICE and no avail! After talking to the ATT guy on the phone from ATT tech support while at the store, he is saying that there is some sort of incompatibility between that particular MANUFACTURE of SIM CARD.

So at this point do I need to have them send me a different manufactured SIM that we know will work before they mail it to me????

We have 2 SIM cards working fine and the ONE FREAKIN ONE THAT DOESN’T WORK IS HIS EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE SIM CARD TWICE THIS MORNING!!

Does this sound right????!??!!!? Can they replace his SIM card with a SIM card from a "different batch" as per the ATT rep on the phone?? They will be calling me back very soon here to talk to me some more!

    HELP! :(

Is the sim card from a Blackberry? If so, that most likely is the problem. I had a Blackberry Torch with ATT before upgrading(?) to an Iphone. Without the tethering option, the sim from the Torch would not work in any fashion in any system I tried. I don't know about using it in a Gobi 2000. Like you I tried it with numerous cards both internal and external with no luck. I just gave up.

No no no! These are all DATA ONLY plans. No minutes, no txting, nothing phone related.

I've N-E-V-E-R had this problem and I've sold THOUSANDS of CF-30 with ATT in them! GAH!

    Thanks

I tested my 31 with the sim from my Blackberry. Fired right up.

edit: ....but I might have had the tethering option.

I just bought a CF-19 MK2 with an AT&T WWAN installed. I don't know yet what card it is (I haven't received the unit yet) but wanted to ask if there are any good documents on getting this activated? Thanks in Advance. I might have a CF-28 that is loaded including factory gps for sale soon as well.

    Model Number: CF-30FTSAXAM
    Status: DISCONTINUED
    MSRP: $4,249
Description: Windows XP Professional (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 1.60GHz (Centrino), 13.3" XGA Touch Screen, 80GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Intel 802.11a/b/g, TPM 1.2 Security Chip, Bluetooth, Wireless Ready, No Optical Drive

I was told by AT&T that a SIM card for a phone will not function on the Mobile Broadband System and that the system will not support dual use (voice/data) devices.

Best thing is to call AT&T Business Center Support and verify if the phone SIM will work or not.

Well, it all points to a problem with the SIM card rather then any hardware.

    1) Check APN settings
    2) Check other mobile settings (I assume you guys in NA have username/password for the APN)
    3) Is the SIM locked to specific device?

On a side note, there are some incompatibilities between SIM cards and modules. There was a point where SIM cards were updated to a newer standard, which meant there was a new version of firmware for the Novatel modules to support the newest standard of SIM cards. The new standard SIM cards came out a while after the module standards were updated to support them, so this issue doesn't come up often at all (at least in Europe).

I got this resolved. Combination of a switching to an 860U card withOUT the upgraded firmware (in other words 3.6M instead of 7.2M) + I found an old sim card laying around the office and activated it and it worked!

    WIN! :)

    FINALLY!

I probably need to contact you on a card, sled, drivers, bios settings and so fourth for AT&T or T-Mobile (Usually I prefer GSM and/or Edge) due to living in the back woods of the Louisiana cellular stone age.

Why not just get a Verizon Hotspot?

    Hello old thread!!!

I have Internal Verizon 4G LTE built in to my C2. On it as we speak :)

FWIW: I pull the SIM card out and put it into my hardwired Netgear modem when traveling too :)
