So i am running vista ( I know I know ) on my cf-19 and noticed that there is a bios update for this.

You are supposed to use a different bios for XP and Vista. My cf-19 is running perfect on vista without the bios update and tomcat also reported his is running vista and xp on the XP bios without problems.

Does this update have anything to do with power managment? I know i read somewhere that if the bios is more optimized for vista then the battery will last longer. I am not sure if this is true but i saw it somewhere.

Since my cf-19 is a digitizer vista is much better for me. The writing recognition is way better in vista as well as a few other added things for tablet users that XP does not have.

Any ideas on the bios guys

I think it has more to do with the TPM chip (trusted platform module) it works in conjunction with the OS to perform hardware level file and password encription. Otherwise I doubt it will make any difference.

I have no idea why there is a bios update
I ran my cf-19 on vista with the xp bios with no noticable problems
My current configuration is vista bios , running vista 90% of the time and xp 10% of the time for compatability with some software
I have left the vista bios on all the time

I am on an old l14 bios and i have run both xp and vista and i have noticed no differances.

Though the battery does not last as long in vista. But i think that might be vistas problem. I read mixed reports on battery life between the two. Some say it makes no differance others say they loose 10% or more on battery life.

You might be right on that one. The original vista restore DVD might not work on a XP bios. And visa versa.

Alex did you use a panasonic restore dvd for Vista and XP?

For Vista I purchased a oem vista business
It did have to be activated with microsoft
The xp tablet edition that the cf-19 came with was installed already
I have no restore disks for the tablet edition
These disks are hard to find
