Hi everybody!
I searched for this issue here and there but no luck, so I'll ask:
I'm an happy owner of a CF-30 (FQL55AM) running on Win7 64bit.
Unfortunately I'm experiencing a strange "power behaviour". Let me explain:
Toughbook off, battery in, ac connector in and charging.
If I turn it on, after a couple seconds, (before the bios startup screen comes up) all the lights (battery and power lights, LCD lamp) go dim.
Brightness adjustment has no effects.
If I reboot, things are the same. Same thing if I put it into sleep mode and I wake it up.
If I disconnect it from the power adapter and reboot/sleep-wake, things go back to normal.
Battery is charging normally, ac adapter is the original one.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum
Have you tried booting up without the battery in the 30 ? After it starts up with the battery in , if you then plug in the AC does it go dim or is it only on start up. -
Startup on AC only, without battery -> dim lights and screen.
Startup on battery without ac -> bright lights and screen even after pluggin' in the ac after the boot.

Can you post a photo of the label on the power supply?
-
Yeah, just gimme a moment.
BTW I'm having this issue since last july.
Never had any problems before. -

Hmm...
power supply is correct voltage and polarity.
Possibly power supply going bad.....low voltage output.
Possibly bad power supply connector on motherboard.
possibly bad dc to dc convertor circuit on motherboard.
What are the settings in the bios for high heat environment?
Reset the BIOS to defaults and see what happens.. -
Hem...
Just did the reset.
Nothing changed, except I now have to insert a password (which I don't know) to access the bios.
(huge facepalm for me)
[edit]
The high heat environment setting was on AUTO. -
That's the problem, you cannot access to bios. If you can access to bios page, make sure it set to high brightness and then hit "Fn + F2" a few times till it get to a max. brightness and then go to exit and save.
ohlip
