    i noticed the thread hear about converting a keyboard to the back lit type .
    this reminded me of the keyboard on my machine ... to me , it seems to be on the dim side , even on the highest setting .
    is/was this by design or is there *something* going on ?
    if it is by design , is there a way to increase the brightness of the leds (keeping the current below the magic smoke level) ?

    They are not real bright. I guess the brightness was a compromise for battery life.

    I have some solid state "boost" transformers that would increase the voltage from 5v. They are adjustable.

    dc-dc switch mode power supply .
    i sent you a pm referencing a constant current dc-dc power supply .
    as long as it is a factory design and not a problem with the unit itself then modifications are on the drawing board .
    i'll look over the schematic for the TB and see what's shakin' .
