Hi again , my new toy is a CF-30 mk2 with 4gRam and 80G HDD. Today I got a brand new intenso 128G sata III ssd, I cloned the old drive and installed it in the toughbook. The computer doesn't boot at all and I can't even enter into setup with F2, I just see a blinking cursor in the upper left corner.
When I hit ESC during the F2 screen I get a glimpse from the post where the ssd is recognized among other things as drive 0, then the mouse and then we go to the blinking cursor.
Am I doing something wrong or I just got an incompatible ssd?
The physical installation is ok , since I changed with the original HDD a couple of times and it works fine.
Any Info will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me it's the drive but also maybe when you cloned it something went wrong. Which OS are you using XP, W7, W10 ??
-
W7 prof. But even if the cloning went wrong , it should let me get into setup with F2? I mean I can even get in the setup without a drive connected but when the ssd is connected even if I press F2 or I let it go over the setup screen I always end up with a blinking cursor.

Sometimes I have an issue where a cloned drive will not boot. I use a Win7 install DVD and boot it. Then I go to the rescue tools and let it repair the boot sector...Then it boots the HDD.

What did you clone the drive with?
Try this guide

Power pull reset the mobo also. Pull power and new drive hold switch on til your thumb gets tired. Might have to boot twice to make the stupid go away. (F2)
-
Too bad I can't use a BOOT to make the stupid go away at work.

I cloned the drive using a SATA hardware cloner. The problem is that with the sdd installed I can't do anything on the computer, not even enter the setup. Is this normal behavior of toughbooks (never seen it in another laptop) or am I doing something wrong?

What is the FULL model number of the laptop?
What is the FULL model number of the drive?
Put the SSD drive in a USB enclosure. Boot using a Linux live cd and see if Linux can access the drive.
Try the cloned SSD in a different laptop.
Remove main battery
Unplug from ac adapter
Take 10 minutes and pull the base off.
Unplug BIOS battery
Hold on-off switch in ON position for 10-15 seconds.
Reassemble and try again.
There is a 95% chance that it is the drive. But if you follow our instructions, you will eliminate the 5% chance that it is something else.
Laptop works fine with old drive. Laptop does not work with new drive.
SATA hardware clone device works properly so image is correct on new drive.
New drive is therefore incompatible or defective -
CF-30FTB09NL, Intenso ssd128GB SATA III (art-nr 3812430), ssd recognized fine on an external usb even in windows on my desktop, all files seem to be fine from the cloning. I will try the battery thing and get back to you.
Thanks a lot for your help. -

When I buy SSD's I only buy name brands that have a good track record. Buying a so called no brand at a cheap price you are looking for trouble.
-
Ok after trying the battery trick still no joy , so I put a samsung ssd and works fine. I Guess intenso ssd'2 they are just not compatible with the cf-30 mk2.
Thanks again for all your help. -

Like I said...stick with a name brand. You may pay more but less headache. Glad you got it up and running.
