I'm running Windows 7 SP1 32-bit, and I think the issues are that because there aren't any Windows 7 drivers for the mk2 series I'm using a mash of mk3 Vista/7 drivers so these are my issues right now.

    1. Enabling "Touchscreen" in BIOS works in Win7 but I can't calibrate the pointer! Switching to "Auto" makes it go to Tablet so it's a bit quirky in Windows (doesn't tap until I take my finger off the screen, etc.). But I can calibrate the pointer in Tablet mode.

    2. I can't dim my screen properly. I think I'm using the wrong driver? I've installed the mk3 Vista drivers. Thing is, I CAN dim the screen with the Fn keys, but the screen goes back to normal brightness (500nits) in 3 seconds. Is this a driver issue?

    3. Anyone have a good set of drivers to use a CF30 mk2 in Windows 7 either x86 or x64?

    4. I've posted my GPS issue here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/577514-gps-problem-cf30.html#post7482983

    Thanks for any help!

    Taken from http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/471307-w7-issues-toughbook-model-status-2.html

Not sure if Toyo ever figured this out or not but it might be a good place to start.

and check this link too. http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/435377-new-panny-support-w7.html

Isn't tablet mode an enhanced version of touchscreen mode? I guess I'm not getting why it sucks. Never had any issues with mine.

Here's what Panasonic has to say:

    Windows® 7 Upgrade Step-by-Step Guide

See Item 21 on Page 2 specifically (which directs you to Page 18 for the procedure).

Thanks for the guide.. I've followed it... and I'll also append it with a few more things that it didn't install (eg. pcinfo, battery calibration, etc.)

That said, the problem with the dimming was the hotkey appendix program! So now I can dim the screen but I don't have the popup that indicates the brightness, nor the sound.

Which leads me to my next problem. Now that I've followed the guide, my sound is gone. Windows says it's working, I see the meters when I play music, even the Fn speaker keys work fine. Just no audio. AAAARGH.

That step by step guide from Panasonic is when your doing an UPGRADE from Vista to W7. If you are doing that, then the PCInfo and Brecal, and others should already be installed. No matter what though, if something is not installed then just do a search under the CF30MK3 W7 and you will see all the drivers. If you are doing a clean install then it's a different story.

Here's to add to my woes.

If I install the Hotkey Appendix app, I lose the ability to dim/brighten the screen from the level at which the App was installed.

If I DON'T install the Hotkey Appendix App, if I mute the sound via Fn keys, I cannot turn it back on until I reinstall the Appendix!!! The mute carries over reboots and reinstalls, and the Toughbook won't even do the power switch beeps (eg. force power off, etc.)

Oh yeah. And the GPS patch doesn't fix anything. If I don't disable the GPS, my cursor goes to the bottom right corner and starts clicking randomly. No, the touchscreen works just fine....
