Hello fellow Toughbook lovers! I have a CF 30 that is giving me this error
"Biometrics Reader Fingerprint reader is not connected. Please connect the reader to USB port" Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks,Travis

Do you see the fingerprint reader in the BIOS?

I've seen that on a CF-51 when the FR is unplugged to remove the speaker grille. I'd try checking and reseating the FFC or cable that connects the FR. I think you have to remove the bottom case cover to access the connections.

This was the same problem on my 51 too. It happened when I upgraded to W7 and it was the driver and software. My 51 uses the UPEK Eikon fingerprint reader and I needed to upgrade to the newest Upek Protector Suite software and after that never had a problem. I tried to find it in my bookmarks but no go but then I found out they were sold a few years ago and its here now......
UPDATE: I HAVE REMOVED THE LINK SINCE IT NO LONGER WORKS.Last edited: Jun 28, 2016 -

I had the same problem when I put Win 7 on my CF-51. It's been a while but, I believe I used the fingerprint driver for Win 7 from a CF-52.

I don't have access to the CF-51 right now to check the driver version.
The OP doesn't specify the OS. I believe he is using XP. The solution may be a simple as installing the FR driver.
