    Hi everyone, :hi2:

Nice forum and threads on the CF-30. I am a new owner of a Toughbook CF-30K, I got it this week.
I notice it had been open in the past and many outside case screws have there head mess up.
I will like to change them all, I have found the Panasonic service manual but they only tell me the screws
    parts number.

    DRSB26+10HKL
    DRHM5054XA
    DRSB3+8FKL
    DRSB4+10FKL
Do someone know the metric size of those screws??
I am thinking of changing them to "Allen cap head" screws.

Sorry for my english, it is not my native.
    Thank you, ;)

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum

Your English is fine, I also fixed a few words  The problem is not the screws but the cheap screwdrivers being used. Most of us use WiHa brand screwdrivers like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiha-4-Pc-P...S_Srewdrivers_Nut_Drivers&hash=item484b1396c0

The only problem that I find with allen head screws the heads are bigger than the OEM screw heads

    Hi toughasnails, :hi2:

Thank's to have fix some of my words. ;)

Yes, for the screwdrivers, I have some good phillips bits.

My Toughbook look to have be in a car before, for a very long time, the screws have lose there black color and look to have be eat up by humidity. Many of them have a grey/white color now, like if the laptop have stay in a car all night in winter time. It make me think that I may got one from a police car or ambulance. :(

Do you have and idea of where I could get the screws size?? I know they are metric.
Some head are so realy mess up that I will have to drill the head off to remove it.

Thank you for your time, :)

    CNNC,

I have a bunch that I bought Bulk in stainless steel.. But they are packed away somewhere after my move and I doubt I will find them for over a year until I build my new house and have a worthy shop.

HOWEVER.... My tip is to go to the nearest RC Truck/Plane hobby shop near you as they use very similar metric threads. Bring a few assorted sized that you want to replace and they can match them up on the spot. That is what I did until I bought bulk. It is A LOT less money than buying new screws from Panasonic and definitely better than cheap Chinese stuff.

As an aside... You CAN polish up the screws if they are not too badly gone. Also take a Q-Tip and clean out the recessed area... It makes it look sharp!

    And WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!

When I get home from work in the morning I will see what I have. The real small ones that hold the port covers I do not have and they are not cheap to buy from Panasonic. They are just under $2.00 each and that adds up fast.

I remember making the mistake of ordering screws from Heartland.... I needed to order 30+ or so... When the order arrived I was shocked to see that each screw was in its plastic bag inside its own cardboard box. I still have a few like that.... More money in the plastic, printing and cardboard than there is in the screw!

    Hi everyone, :hi2:

    Hi Shawn,
Thank's for looking, will wait for the link. They will maybe give the size of them. ;)

    Hi Toughbook,
    Thank's for the welcome,
I have buy some screws to a RC store for my little lathe before, and they sell them at a very hight price for little metric screws. I was thinking to find them on eBay from a European seller, they maybe lest expensive. Or order them at the screws store, they sell screws in box of 100 units.

Polishing them will not be a good idea, it will remove the black finish and the screws will rust very fast. The Toughbook will be use whit OpenCNP software on a sailboat in salt water, so maybe SS_304 screws will be better. Whit Torx or Allen cap heads.

Oh! Heartland pack them very well, lucky man, they did not ship it one by one?

    Hi toughasnails,
Thank's for looking, will wait for your answer. ;)

Thank's everyones for your time, :)

Rick..my last order was $1600.00+, now it might sound like a lot but it's not. It came in a square box 20 X 20 filled with packing peanuts, my order could of fit in one of them Medium Flat Rate Boxes from the post office and still have room left over. My screws never came in a box, just a bag and almost missed them.
