Sorry if this issue has been addressed before. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything.

I have four CF30's. One is a CF-30FASADAM (Mk I) and three are CF-30KAPAXAM (Mk II).

The CF30F can sit for a two full months (shut down and unplugged from the charger) and still have a 95+% battery charge when powered on. The CF30K's under the same exact circumstances will show 0% battery after 2 months.

All four CF-30's are configured exactly the same: Win 7 Pro, 4GB ram and 250GB Samsung 850 Evo SSDs.

I don't like having my laptops on their chargers 24/7 (I'm sure it's not good for the batteries, either) but I would like to be able to rely on them in case of an emergency. I also don't want to unnecessarily cycle the batteries by allowing them to drain/charge every couple weeks. I've considered leaving the batteries out of the Toughbooks, but figure I'd be changing out the CMOS battery often.

I've gone through the Device Manager to see if there might be some ports (like a USB port) that's kept active - or allowed to wake the computer but I have found no obvious culprits.

There are no GPS modules or any other devices installed that I am aware of that may be draining power. The earlier "F" model actually has the Verizon WWAN module (not activated) but obviously that's not an issue because the "F" model doesn't have the battery drain issue.

Also, the batteries appear to be in very good shape. I ran the battery calibration on all batteries and every battery shows at least 95% capacity or better.

I find it very odd that the "F" model doesn't drain the battery like my "K" models do. Is it possible that this is a known problem with the CF-30K models? Is there something about the Mk II's that may drain the batteries when the computer is shut down?

    Thanks in advance.

Number the batteries and swap them around.
That will tell you if it is a laptop problem or a battery problem. I am figuring a battery problem.

Thanks, Shawn. I swapped batteries 4 days ago and I'm going to let them sit (if I can) for a week and then check battery levels. Hopefully I'll get some answers.

I just find it very odd that 3 different CF30K's do the exact same thing and my one CF30F does not. That's why I figured it might be something in the design of the Mk II's that's causing the drain. All the batteries test in very good condition and provide 4-5 hours of use each - but I suppose anything is possible. Thanks.

Always test the easy stuff first.
