There is a option to choose "fast" boot. The description indicates this comes at a price in the form of "restrictions." The best Panny tech could offer was "try it and see."

On the graphics there is a "switchable" option in BIOS. Per the manual an icon in the "notification area" would then allow switching between the ATI and intel graphics on the fly. In XP I see no such icon.

Also, the replicator forces the machine into intel graphics mode. Seems a bit odd when you think about desktop use.

I think XP is going to have trouble with the idea of switchable graphics. I also believed, but am not sure, that the panny units were not switch on the fly but rather enable or disable in bios.

I hope it's just an XP thing. Not that I have any use for the ATI graphics. I believed it was BIOS switching only until I read otherwise in the PDF manual on my HDD. Now I have major doubts. I'll have to call Panny back and see if one of the guys with an IQ higher than his shoe size answers the call. Either way I'll know more when I load 7 onto a SSD in a week or so.

I was thinking about SSD but just got worried about performance degrading and I see no reason to go SSD, performance of stock drive seems good enough, I might however upgrade to a 1TB drive.

Please let me know what SSD you use and the size, and of-course the performance in a month or two.

7 has trim built into it, and intel provides trim software with their drives. I'm planning to get the intel 120gb X25-M and a new caddy to stick it in. I'll load 7 onto that. I'll keep XP on the OE HDD for a backup
