Awhile back as we found out Panny would put a fan in the new 31 some guys on here were a little scared. Scared might not be the right word...

I was just looking at the pics & videos on there site. I don't think it's going to be an issue! Check out these videos! Browse thru all of them, there pretty cool. Go to Gallery, then videos.

So... just as I suggested. Waterproof, ruggedized fan. I need to stop fixing computers and start writing sales brochure copy for products that haven't happened yet... LOL

I foresee... a lot more grief in my life. At LEAST for the next 18 years or so...

I"m NOT convinced that a fan is a good idea on the CF-31... I've seen THOUSANDS of broken fans come by my shop... I"m sure it will survive a little muddy water and some sand but in the long run at SOME POINT SOMETHING WILL get into the bearings on that thing and destroy it... Only time will tell...

    ~Rob - NOT convinced!~

I agree, I've had even the best fans fail on multiple occasions. My thought is to have a heat sync extrude through the outside of the system, may not work well but just my 2 cents.

Well, I figured they would use a blower rather than a fan as they are tougher. My only concern would be water getting into it when it is not turning - then again, they are not certified to be submerged, so maybe this is a moot point.

Also, the competition has been using blowers for years, they are still in business.

Also too.. these fans do NOT run 24/7... what if it gets completly loaded with sand and then has to turn on... I don't think it will have enough torque to start spinning...

My main concern isn't so much the fan itself, but I'm guessing it is blowing through a heatsink of some sort , and it could block up with dust/dirt??

    another 2c worth.

probably a heat pipe not as prone as a heat sink to clogging with dirt, but being exposed could get fouled up. i could see it getting all gummy from coolant at my shop and full of cat hair when I take it home, lol.
