I have a MKIV that was purchased on ebay with a new install of Windows 10 pro. It has 8GB ram and a 360gb HDD. It runs very fast and boots rather quickly as well....My dad has a MKI which also has a new install of windows 10 pro and the I5 processor (possibly the generation before the one that i have). His has a 160gb hdd and 4gb of ram. His is super slow and takes a while to boot. This may be a silly question but why is his so much slower than mine?

Also mine has the dual boot option. When I start it up it gives e the option for windows 10 or windows setup. Are all of these capable of that?

Take the Mk1 and put a 240gb SSD in it with 8 gb of ram, Windows 10 has a fair amount of bloatware in it and can be tweaked to run better. I will let those who run it all the time chime in on that.

Thanks!! Is that why my mkiv runs faster because it has 4gb more ram and a bigger hard drive even tho it’s hdd?

Even my CF-31 isn't the fastest because I still have a harddrive in it. (I am running a cloning program to a PNY SSD at the moment though"

Older hardrives run at a little lower speed, but he may have stuff running that is dragging it down. After it fully starts up look at how many processes you have running. I always run with tweaks to cut stuff off I don't need or use. After you trim it down it will run good. I have windows 7 cut down that will run good on a CF-28, CF-29 and M34 unit. Just depends on what you want it to do.

After the tweaking you can do a "high performance defrag" that puts all the system files to the center of the drive where it can read it faster than at the outer edges to speed it up a little more.

May even need the registry cleaned up, but back up important stuff before doing any of that.
