With the recent NCOV outbreak and the world possibly becoming a hostile place in the near future I have been looking at getting a Toughbook, and the one I was looking for is a CF-31 Mk5. Anything I should look out for besides the obvious? (forget about it if it's got a BIOS password, caddies/parts in general are expensive as hell etc)
What should I be paying for a 31 Mk5 in good to awesome condition? eBay's prices are all over the place starting from $350 for one with a BIOS password and $500 and up for one without.

We might be able to upgrade to a black powdercoat finish for free. Fedex typically costs 100$ to UK. Email us if you change your mind!

Does anyone know anything about customizing/personalizing your Toughbook? Does anyone make custom logos that go in the place of the OEM "TOUGHBOOK" logo?
-
I know quite a bit about customizing them.
I had a nice thread about it, but that was when I used photobucket and the images are deleted.
my bad choice.
I have seen them in stainless steel, in chrome plated steel, in leather, and I did mine using reflective paint with glass beads embedded in it.
I have also done custom BIOS "Panasonic" pages.

I have a vinyl cutter.
I can make almost any logo I want.
Single color are much easier.
Panasonic calls them badges -

That laser cut (?) badge looks really cool, who made it?

Some board member. not sure which one.
You need to do some searching and you will find him or his posts about them.CLASSIF1ED likes this. -
Isn’t there some tinkerer on the Left coast that uses leather tools for custom logos? Near the Talking Dog Ranch up north.
