I have a cf-29 and am upgrading to a CF-31. I am wondering what, if any, parts I can use from my 29, in the 31.
only the keyboard and charger i have found that seem to be compatible between the two.

Additionally, while looking for media bay batteries, I seem to have read somewhere that media bay batteries are only available for the i3 series because of real estate issues, is this correct?

Main batteries, the cf-31's are separate? Im having a hard time finding new ones for under $100, but can find cf-29 aftermarket batteries all day long for under $40.

I'm robbing the HDD and RAM for the 31 from my GFs old dell, saving me some coin until I can afford to upgrade to SSD & more RAM.

Also, I have read that some aftermarket GPS units get better reception than the stock panasonic one. What about external USB units? I think i still have one from my CF-29, i just have to find it.

Where do the SIm cards install on the WWAN cards? I think i may entertain the idea of getting 4g too in the future, on an AT&T network.

Stay away from aftermarket batteries. They almost always perform poorly and can also be dangerous.

And be on the lookout for counterfeit OEM batteries from dodgy Chinese sellers.

Looks like the battery that came with the 31 is good, and runs fine with the HDD & RAM from GF's old dell.

havent messed with GPS yet, no WWAN card, may hold off for now.
