    Hello,

After looking all over the internet and this forum I'm still standing at a dead end. I'm trying to install an unlocked Sierra Airprime MC7750 into a CF-31 MK1 (CF-31AEAEX1M) and, unfortunately, the BIOS nor the OS will recognize the device.

From what I've read it appears that I need to activate the WWAN within the BIOS. Possibly by using the "BIOS GOBI WWAN unlocker tool/spgobi2.zip/WWANEXE.exe" as refered to in these threads:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/bios-gobi-unlocker-tool-wwanexe-exe.742694/
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/cf-31-wwan-hardware.627616/

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Is the WWAN card from a Toughbook?
If it's not from a Toughbook, it will be very difficult to get it to work, even with the magic spgobi2 file.. Major driver issues IF you can get the hardware to recognize a non Panasonic "branded" card. Each manufacturer has it's own firmware for "their" Gobi's.

So this is the exact card that I purchased:
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JY4SHEY/ref=pe_385040_128020140_TE_3p_dp_1
On the Panasonic website, documentation refers to the above card being compatible with the CF-31:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/toughbook/computer-support-wireless.asp#verizon
Do you have any suggestions on which WWAN card will work? I have 4 Toughbooks (same model) that were purchased by my predecessor without the WWAN option. Just trying to fix the mistake. These laptops are being used in Fire Engines.
    Thanks for the help.

When you have 5 posts, you can start a private conversation with me...I may be able to send you the spgobi2 file and you can try it and see what happens.
Since you already own the card, it won't hurt to try.

Here is a link to a official Panasonic card..They are a reputable Toughbook dealer. I did not check any prices.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PANASONIC-S...t=US_Laptop_Network_Cards&hash=item2c8b28e591
If you look at the printing on the card, there is a line that says IC:2417C...That specific code is on the Panasonic cards..Also on a few other brands.

I see the card you bought has that code. One member bought a card with that code and it came from a Fujitsu laptop..He had to fiddle around with Fujitsu drivers and software to make it work.

If you email the seller I linked they may give you a deal on a bulk purchase, if you can't get the card you bought to work.

It's going in a Firetruck, that makes it important to work RIGHT and work ALL of the time..

I will definitely use your suggestion for future cards if this works.

I will start that private conversation with you when I hit that 5 tomorrow.

Ok, so this may be a stupid question but just want to confirm that I'm not missing something simple.

Do I have to have an actual SIM card in the device for it to recognize the MC7750 WWAN card?

I have a SIM on the way from Verizon.

Well, looks like I'm in business after using the spgobi2 file activating the WWAN setting within the BIOS, thanks to Shawn.

I now have the WWAN Option in the BIOS and the device is being recognized by the OS. Using the VZAccess Manager, the "Verizon Wireless - VS Access" Network shows but since I do not have a SIM yet I'm unable to connect (obviously).

Can someone take a look at the below screen shots and let me know if there is something wrong since i received a few "failed" driver installs in the initial startup. I've since update the firmware on the card.

Now just waiting for my SIM from Verizon.

Radiotech1. I'm still waiting on my SIM card to find out if the steps above work. I will let you know if it works or I run into any issues. Good Luck
