Okay... Shawn sent me a Sierra MC7750 card to try out on my CF-31. I got the card today and installed it. I enabled everything in the BIOS and on the Switch Utility. I downloaded and ran the firmware update utility flashing the 7750 with the most recent firmware.
I downloaded and ran the driver package and the VZ manager. I tried it out prior to adding a SIM and it looked like it was running fine. Device Manager looks good and shows as it is ready to go!
I go into the Verizon store to add it to my account. They take the IMEI and give me a SIM. They say it shows as active and ready to go. I open VZ Manager and it shows as "Configuring Device"... Then "Initializing" for almost a minute... Then it reads as "Device Not Ready" So... I've never had a WWAN and never set one up. I know the Toughbooks are picky with cards and settings.
Oh... I am running a fresh installation of Windows 10 also. I wonder if it is something in the configuration settings. It shows Win8 info in there.
What do I need to try?

Well... After hooking up to wifi at my mom's house (borrowing her internet to upgrade Win10 on a few laptops)... Now it just shows Configuring... And then it just goes away and all WWAN info is grayed out.
And then after uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them... Its back to what it was before.Last edited: Jul 22, 2017 -
Hi Rick
Did you set the wireless wan id under the "Optional kit configuration" in the bios?

Nick,
Um.... It is password protected! Uh oh....
Ideas? -
Rick
Sent you a PM over at Robs place...I don't know what the correct setting is...It depends on your carrier -
Thanks Bud! I'm in! It is set to 4... I have no idea what Verizon is... But I'll try them all! lol

After reading a few posts here... I looked into PCInfo and saw the WWAN ID is 2h... The BIOS won't take a letter... So It looks like I am stuck. I also read in another post dated in 2015 that Verizon doesn't support the 7750 card anymore.
Hmmmmm... -
Okay... I am back at my house now... With MINIMAL cellular service. My Netgear Jetpack with a 5db booster only gets 1-2 bars.
I put in "3" into the Optional Kit Confguration menu and it sees the card... But now I am so far away it will not get a signal! Ahhhhhhhhh!
Thanks for the help! I will take it back to civilization tomorrow and see what I get. -

It's ok to post the password for the Optional kit configuration. We have been down this road before and it's been posted in many threads.

So.... Fresh off the phone with Verizon and I am Jake on their end. VZAccess sees the signal strength and shows everything ready. Then when I click on CONNECT WWAN it says;
"Windows Mobile Broadband API is not responding."
"Error MBN0x80548212"
The troubleshooting guide is no help on the link this error provides.
Thoughts? -
Okay... I am in the Verizon parking lot on my 4G device. Not sure what I played with but I think I told Windows not to manage the connection. Looks like there is something in Win10 that wants control and was creating some sort of conflict.

aha ! now it becomes perfectly clear ...
W10 was written by a bunch of disgruntled ex-wife/gf code writers and software engineers !toughasnails likes this. -
Fantastic.
Glad you got it sorted. Too bad you dont know what you did.
Although I must say the same about most of this weekend..I dont know/remember what I did. Aint brain damage grand? Too bad I cant choose what to forget! -
I'm pretty sure, after fooling with a few settings, that iwas unchecking the box for Windows control.

Well... I think the Windows issue was it. I have taken this out the past few days and it work very well. Even out here in the land of woods and bears.
I bought a Havis mount on fleabay that has a nice Lind adapter built in. I thought I blew it on an auction I missed for a nice Havis pole mount with articulation... But then I stumbled across on fleabay the other day where the guy had no idea what he had... I picked that up for $30 instead of the $150 I was prepared to pay. I just need to fab up a mount with some 1/4" flatbar and tie it into the Havis base. I already thought it all up and have everything I need... Just waiting for the Havis parts. When I am finished I will be able to move the seat forward all the way or, if needed for more room, unscrew one knurled knob and remove the whole thing. I'll post pic when finished.
Thanks to all for their help. I felt like a newb through all of this. loltoughasnails likes this.
