Currently I have my CF-31 in tablet mode for the touchscreen, and to be honest, it's terrible! The mouse only moves to where you touched upon the release of the touchscreen and it's not sensitive enough and I find myself having to touch the screen VERY HARD and multiple times just to get the stupid thing to work! GAH!
So I switched it to touchscreen mode and it's PERFECT (just like my 30 was) - IE - It's very sensitive and the mouse moves to the point you touched the SECOND you touch there, and not once you lift your finger back up, HOWEVER, I can't calibrate it![]()
I would like to have it in touchscreen mode and calibrated correctly.
Any ideas?- Windows 7 Pro.
Thanks![]()

There are two calibration utilities. Both are in the control panel. One has it's own icon and is labeled "tablet calibration." The other is in "tablet PC settings" under the "display" tab. Good luck.
Edit: The pen and touch icon is gone in touchscreen mode, and the tablet calibration is NFG. So maybe there is another utility hiding somewhere? -
Not sure Rob, but have you ever used a tablet? The screen needs to be less sensitive as you need to rest your hand on the screen to use it, and I believe it is assumed that you will be using a stylus. Like I said, I don't really know how the tablet function works on a CF-31 but on a digitizer tablet there are a lot of different moves you make with the pen which might seem odd if you are used to a touchscreen.

A digitizer CF-19 doesn't respond to finger touch's though.....
"Edit: The pen and touch icon is gone in touchscreen mode, and the tablet calibration is NFG. So maybe there is another utility hiding somewhere?" - That's why I'm asking the question -
Rob I'll check on my Cf-30 where the calibration is. I know I have used it. I also recall that windows XP is treated differently by the BIOS. I noticed when I switch to my XP hard drive it switches in BIOS from tablet to touchscreen or vice-versa by itself. I don't have my CF-30 here. But will check when I get home
-
Eno, yes the CF-30 treats the OS different depending if you have the XP or the Vista/7 BIOS on it...
Remember that I have a CF-31, NOT a CF-30 so XP support is completely gone at this point... -
Thanks. The 31 also goes to touchscreen in XP. I learned that swapping system drives as well. I thought I had an issue when I could not calibrate (got the data error) in 7. After a reboot the 31 reverted to tablet in 7 and calibration worked. At the time I chalked it up to random weirdness from swapping drives. Now it has some specificity.
The first time I used the calibration utility that lives under the tablet pc settings, 7 asked me if I really wanted to let it mod my PC. If I had the name of that program I could look for it on the drive. Where does 7 store the names of permitted utilities? -
I have no clue but I do know that I used the Tablet calibration utility via Windoze 7...
And there is NO WAY to get XP to work on this.... The i Series CPU's (i3/i5/i7) do NOT have support for XP... Even if you did get it installed somehow, I guarantee that some drivers (like chipset, sound and whatnot) would NOT work... -
I still find it weird that the touchscreen acts so sluggish for you in tablet mode. My 30 runs in tablet mode for Win 7 I think will confirm. but it is snappy I can tell no difference between that and XP's touchscreen mode.

I ran Windows 2000 SP4 on my EEEPC 1005 for months without issues. You'll find that a great many things are possible despite the manufactures insistence of the opposite.
I seem to recall the same statement regarding the santa rosa chipset a few years back. Vista only, my... -
So I called panny just now (and trust me, I N-E-V-E-R call panny), because I'm at a total roadblock here. The guy on the phone has no idea but he's pretty sure it's just a bug and can be fixed by the "senior, head honcho".
I'll be getting a call back Monday or Tuesday from the head honcho with a workaround or a solution.
I'll keep you all updated.
As of now this laptop will NOT calibrate in touchscreen mode, PERIOD... Touch works, but if you can't calibrate it then whats the point??
Thanks -
My i5 31 came with XP on it with a 7 upgrade option. I used the included 7 restore disk when I added a SSD. My OE drive still has XP on it. Works fine. The only missing functionality I have noticed is the inability to switch graphics in the OS. Have to do that in BIOS.
-
Can you please tell where you found this option to switch between tablet and touch screen?
thanks -
In the BIOS...
-
Panny guy told me to leave it on auto in bios and it will switch back and forth between tablet and touchscreen depending on whether you are using the stylus, you finger, or your... never mind. You believe him?
-
It doesn't work though! It's in "Auto" mode now.........
-
Mine seems happy enough in auto mode. on par with the touchpad for sensitivity.
-
I finally got a chance to check it is set to Auto in mine goes to touchscreen for XP and tablet for Windows 7 same sensitivity no input lag or any anomaly. I cannot tell the difference. used the Calibration utility in the util>drivers>tscreen folder. that one gives you 9 points instead of the tablets 4
