    Hello all,

    I'm problem solving for the agency I serve after we just purchased six new CF-31's (slowly phasing out about 30 old CF-28's -30's) and they don't seem to communicate very well with the PDRC in squads. We use Kodiak docks.

    Monitor = panasonic cf-vdl02
    Keyboard = panasonic CF-VKBL02

    The specific malfunction is the following: the computer docks on Kodiak dock, sends "forward" the display to the cf-vdl02, but flickers slightly and has a wavey type deformation over the image running up and down the screen. The CF-VKLB02 does not seem to function at all (no mouse or keyboard response). The touch screen works sometimes on the cf-vdl02 so I can tell it's communicating somewhat.

    Connecting a CF-28 to the dock makes everything work fine again which leads me to believe it's a possible driver issue.

    I attempted to use an updated UPDD driver (4) from our standard 2002 version of it (I believe 2.0?)

    Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thank you in advance.

    Did you try using the TPDD driver (Release Date: May 25, 2010)?

    cfvd02_xp_u1_d100858.exe (2.4 mb)

    Here are the Operating Instructions for the CF-VDL02 display.

    Just realized that Jotto Desk/Kodiak Mobile makes different docks for the CF-28 (KDCF28) than for the CF-29/CF-30 units (KDCF29):

    I am having the same issue as you, in fact .. just called up Panasonic today. No help though, they think it's the PDRC itself is malfunctioning, but it works fine with our older CF-18s.

    On top of that, I don't know if you have tried it yet or not or it's isolated to my PDRCs, but when you try to toggle FN+F3 to switch from dual/clone display back to the CF-31, the PDRC will time out and takes up to 2 minutes before it is discovered again by the CF-31. It's driving me nuts.

    I do know they have new models of PDRC, I believe they are USB now. you might look into those to see if its a conflict between the 2 units, I have not tried the older PDRC with a CF-31 yet.

    Thank you for your reply ToughCop. Between working patrol and getting time to get off the street and in the PD to troubleshoot I haven't had time yet to try your tip. I will let you know the outcome as soon as I get some time to test it out!

    I'm afraid it's good news for Panasonic though, they want us, their consumer, to upgrade. Let me know if you find a work around, and I'll do the same for you. I'm eager to try ToughCop's tip.

    Just a random thought, but I wonder if the old dock can supply enough current for the new CF-31? You might check the ratings on the vehicle dock supply (Lind?) and the CF-31. Could also do a quick check using the CF-31 powered by its OEM AC adapter to eliminate this as a cause.
