    Hi all,
I have a non-boot CF-50JAKUJZZ (mk1, I think) with known good screen and was wondering if the whole works (screen, lid, inverter, ribbon cables, etc) can be swapped out and fitted to a CF-51mk2 (CF-51JFVDCBM).

Did a side by side comparison, measured with tape... seems to be the same size but since I've not taken either apart, I can't be absolutely sure. Can someone shed some light, please.

    Many thanks!

You cannot do a straight swap as the connectors for the two screens are different. You would have to rewire the connectors and they are tiny. There may be a possibility that some will be the same, but I know when I tried to swap screens from two different models of CF-51's, the connectors were not the same. Different types and different numbers.

    Hi Ron

The CF-50 model is a XGA screen the CF-51 is UXGA. You would need a ribbon cable for a XGA CF-51 and transplant into the CF-51 screen assy....The screen bezel breaks real easy.

Re-reading what I wrote... visual comparison and measuring with tape... well... that's really technical isn't it?? :D :D :D

While I don't have the CF-51JFVDCBM in hand (was contemplating buying one online & getting it fixed for sale... at least the dead CF-50 served a purpose), would it be safe to say that the connectors/ribbon cables/wires are the same across all marks of CF-51?

What about screen swaps between marks of CF-50 or are there variations, like in the 28s?

And thanks... I appreciate the input.

    Hi Ron

CF-50's has UXGA and XGA screens as do the CF-51. There are XGA and UXGA cables. I am not positive but I thing the CF-51 Cables are a longer than the CF-50's

The only way I know that you will in all likelihood get the same connectors, is getting an LCD from the same series and same processor. If you have a 51 with a 1.7, then you need to find one that CAN BE VERIFIED that it came from the same model. It does not necessarily have to be exactly the same model number, but it needs to meet the criteria I mentioned. The bad part is, many of the vendors pull the LCD's and then say they will work with a "48/50/51" when in fact they will not. Yes, the screen MAY be the same resolution (and maybe not), but unless you plan on doing some soldiering, no way will they connect. Hope this helps...
