    I bought, besides my cf-18, a cf-50 for a whole low-costs: 99 euros. :D
But there was no transformer, dead battery, a hard drive of 20 giga and 256 of RAM.

I found a transformer, changed the hard drive and I bought RAM of occasion.

When I tried to place it in the computer. Impossible.

I increased the space of a memory, but that did not do anything, it is not recognized. I believe that I demolished a memory for nothing.
Already had this problem? Do there exist several different SODIM?

Which is the maximum supported by this model? I find answers different 1 giga or 512 mb.

For precision, my model is a Panasonic CF-50J2KUEKM 4GYUA20556.

    Thanks

I believe all CF-50's use DDR memory. The module with the label is DDR. The other is DDR2. They are not interchangeable. Hopefully you didn't damage your motherboard.

The correct ram is either 512mb or 1gb 200 pins, SO-DIMM, DDR SDRAM, PC2700 Compliant, your choice. (Either a PC2700 compliant RAM module(preferable) or a PC2100 compliant RAM module can be added.)

I have had success with Crucial (Micron) ram. Some other brands have caused issues. Tomcat started a recent thread about this. I believe it has cf 29 in the title, But the cf50 uses the same chipset as the early cf 29's. The memory would not work in my cf 29 or any of my cf 50's

I see on Learn about Panasonic's TOUGHBOOK-50 that the Memory have 512MB SDRAM(DDR2) standard, expandable to 1536MB...

It's beter to have 1536MB. Is this memory exist??

Thanks for those responds, and so quick!

A small precision is necessary on the photograph which I put.

Memory on the top of the photo , the 'CENTON”, it is the memory of origin, 256 MB. I bought the memory which is in bottom of the photo (you see only a part of it), it is a Samsung of 1 GB. It goes very well on my CF-18.

You noticed the difference on the notch. There is a few micron between the two. With the result that it does not return in the CF-50.

Thanks for the clarification. That Panasonic site you referred to is wrong. You definitely need DDR memory.

Did you verify that the 256mb memory still works? That you didn't damage the computer trying the wrong type of memory?

The memory in I58SR's post should work.

I'm ok with you that DDR2, it's impossible, but it's the official site of Panasonic!

I have the mk3 CF-18, with the 1200mhz with Ubuntu. It'm my only PC, all the time opened, because no noise. I have a big tower with dual core but noise every day, it's impossible. I hope to buy a cf-19 in the futur.

I will cut tomorow all my two pana to test all the possibilities, and i make new photos.

Cleaning the old ram? I will test it too.

    For some reason I don't think the cf-18 1200mhz is a mk3
If its a mk4 or mk5 it uses ddr2, thats why it will not work in the cf-50

Bad news today, i have killing my cf-18
4 years of fidelity with this good occasion imported from usa, i'm in Belgium.

When i want to test all my memory, i remove the 1gb from my cf-18 and put a 1gb with the same identification, it's a Samsung PC2 5200S 555 12 E3. Its the second time that i test this memory buyed by interrnet in Germany, there is two month. First time all is allright.

This morning, I run the cf-18 with this memory, nothing append, black screen. To reboot, i remove battery and transformator, and it was the last sign of live.... :(
No light, nothing append when i rechange the memory and put battery and/or sector on my thougbook... Motherboard, sure dead!!!

 So; i have not the solution to boost my actually only Pana who have only 256mb. Any oder idee???

Do you now if it exist with the same reference (DDR sodim....) , ram with notch at different place?

They do this so you can not mix them up.

    DDR PC2100 or PC2700 ( 256 you have shown )
    and
    DDR2 PC4200 or PC5300 ( bottom picture)

    Try a hard reset

    Remove battery ac adapter
Hold power button down for 10 seconds

Try to start on ac adaper

btw when you post questions on the forum ,its a good idea to post your model number in part of the post
