Hi. I just switched out the Intel 3945ABG wireless card and replaced it with an Intel Advanced N 6205 (both cards = PCIe). Driver is good. Device manager says it is working properly.

Intel PROset says 'hardware radio switch: OFF'.

OK... but there is no hardware switch on a CF51 (like on a CF30).

    I must be missing something.

    Thanks for any help.

What did I do??? I'm trying to remember...

I don't know why, but suddenly it's working.

Still don't have any mention of WLAN in BIOS. Didn't have to do the 'tape over pin 20 on PCIe card' thing.

I guess I just wore it down and it gave in.

Have you installed the panny software on/off switch (Wireless Switch Utility) for the radio? It shows up as "WSwitch" in the Panasonic folder in program files for Win Xp Pro. If you don't have this installed it's possible that is your problem. If it is installed it should show up in the tray in the lower right of Win XP Pro as an orange/red circle with a yellow zig zag (lightning bolt) if it's on and the same icon with a red slash through it if it's off. I drove myself nuts on the first CF-51 refurbishment I did when I couldn't get the radio to work (and got the same message you are getting), but I'll never forget about it again. Without knowing what specific model CF-51 you have I can't point you in the right direction to download the utility but it should be available from one of the official Panasonic support websites. I hope this helps :)

    Good luck!

    Since it's a PCIe card I think its a MK3
