I have a CF-51 MK3 that boots with a green screen. When it starts to boot the screen is green instead of black. As it boots the blue Panasonic screen appears. When it goes back to the black screen before Windows boots the screen that is suppose to be black is green. Once in Windows all the colors are correct. Any thoughts on what is the problem. Screen, back light, video card??????????

I have seen this on a older Compaq laptop I had. It worked fine for several years then one day the video card died.

Are the colors proper in the bios setup screen ?
Can you hook it up to a external screen and see if it happens there too .
The last time I had that sort thing happen it was a HP and it was the video
card problem they had . There video cards overheated and died .

    Model # is CF-51QG5EEBM:
    Description: , Intel Core Duo T2500 2.0GHz, 15" UXGA,1GB+1GB(Total 2GB), 80GB, 256MB VRAM, 56K, 1 Gb Ethernet, NO WLAN, DVD-Multi drive, FDD, WIN XP SP2, TPM1.2, SmartCard
In the bios the colors are perfect except where the cursor is - that is green. External screen is green also.

If hook up on an external monitor which you said is perfect! The problem is within the LCD cable harness. Check that all out from the connector to the cable itself.

Sorry! my bad, lazy to read. Now! which conclude you have bad video chip. Do you have a reflow station? It can be repair at 480deg. in 15 minutes.

I got one of those but have never seen this before. I'll reboot it when I get back and see what it does, but don't remember this happening before. Seems like it may have been one someone else said was in good condition but wouldn't screen up at all. They sent me another screen that worked fine. There was a difference in the screens, like one was for the non duo model...Driller

It's a special piece of equipment that uses selectable air temperature to remelt and reflow solder joints. Teo is suggesting you try to "remelt" and "reflow" the solder that is holding the video chip on the motherboard. He is the resident expert on these things so he is probably spot on to what your problem is and what the fix is. If you have a friend, or local repair shop that has a reflow station, they will know what he means to fix it.
