Are the MK2LL models particularly problematic?
There is a batch available all of which supposedly do not boot. Presumably if they have been robbed of the RAM then they will not boot, but are there other causes.
I have the remanents of a MK2LL which I bought for the screen assembly. Whan you power up the MB, the fans starts almost immedaitely and it shuts itself off after a few seconds. Also most of the components for sale are nearly always from those MK2 models which sort of implies they have died prematurely!

Not necessarily. Those MKs are very common in the US military and right now they are in the process of changing over to CF-52s and in some cases to Dulls.

If you have ram installed you should be able to access the bios screen
If you can not there must be a problem in the m/b and you have a parts machine -
I just found it a bit odd that out of 10 identical spec CF-51's, all listed as having 512mb of ram, that half don't boot and are therefore cheap, whilst the others boot and are twice as expensive.
I would buy one as spares but he hasn't answered an enquiry about whwther the caddies are intact.
I don't have a keyboard on my MK2 but it seems that the cutout would take place before BIOS had started. It's a matter of seconds.
