Anyone know if the motherboard on the MK3 is the same as a MK3LL. I have a MK3LL and have now got hold of a normal MK3 mobo with the 2.0GB Core Duo processor. Can I just swap the processor, or do a complete swap of the MOBO and would there be any significant improvement or should I just keep it for spare if my MOBO goes south.
I finally managed to get the 51 working again after changing the Caddy and the drive - seems the duff caddy killed the drive as well and I got the mobo for a good price just in case it had screwed the connector on the mobo but all is fine so it is now spare.

I think the LL model has an integrated Intel GPU while the normal uses a dedicated ATI X1300. If nothing else, the new GPU is worth it.
I dunno if it can just be swapped, so dont take me word for it. But it should be possible. Mobos can usually be swapped between the same marks. -

Ohlip.
Thanks, will do it. Will mean loading XP AGAIN!!! but what the heck, I'm getting used to it now. Separate GPU would be good, might imporve the graphics a bit although they aren't bad now anyway and it's not doing anything particularly graphis intensive.

There is lots of threads on upgrading the CF-51 MK3. You can upgrade the cpu to a T7200 / T7400 / T7600 , all these are 667 FSB...the 800 FSB will not work.
