Just received a CF-51PF4DEBM (Core Duo T2500 @2.00 Ghz) that the prevous owner had installed Windows 7 Professional. It has 1GB memory RAM. I checked all the volume control setting and they were fine. I suspect a driver problem. In checking the Device Manager,it says that it is working properly. Would it tell me working properly with a bad driver? The driver is,"6.1.7600.16385 Signed by Microsoft Windows.

I understand that Panasonic has a driver that although designed for XP, will work with Windows 7. Can anyone tell me what it is or supply a link so I can correct the problem?

The keyboard seems to work fine but I also get an Error Message that says the Keyboard is not compatable with this version of Windows 7. Should a different driver be used here as well?

Thanks in advance for the help.

    CF-51PF4DEBM
    Intel Core Duo T2500 2.0GHz (Centrino), 15" UXGA, 1GB, 80GB, 128MB VRAM, 56K, 1 Gb Ethernet, Intel 802.11a/b/g, COMBO drive, FDD, WinXP SP2, TPM1.2, SmartCard

Well for starters you should have at least 2GB memory for W7. I used XP drivers for the sound. If you go here Toughbook Computer Support Downloads and click on Toughbook Downloads you can find all the drivers . You will find 2 MK3's ( MK3 and MK3LL) Yours is a CF-51 MK3
You should need no driver for the keyboard.

I have W7 Home on my CF-51 and yes, use the Panasonic drivers in place of the Windows installed ones. I used the Vista ones if available, and XP for the ones that were not.
Go to the Device Manager and uninstall suspected drivers then install the new ones from Panasonic. Reboot each time to clear the old driver data before installing.
I had a keyboard driver issue but it was for the Hot Keys. Windows listed it as a second software modem in the Device Manager. I turned off the on-board modem in the BIOS and the second modem was moved to where I could then install the Hot Keys driver.
The sound might be 'stuck' in mute or the volume turned down and without the proper drivers, you can't change it.
Just take your time and do a little sleuthing you just might get it figured out, with help from these guys, just like I did! ;) JohnP
