I can get the video driver from 2006 from Panasonic, but was looking for a more updated driver for XP Pro SP3.
The AMD website says the Catalyst 9.3 driver should work with the X1300, but it doesn't. It says no card can be found.
I know I have a CF-51R and had no problem getting the latest video driver from Intel.
If anyone has found a current one on the AMD site please post the link.

You gotta remember many Panasonic drivers are designed to only work on Toughbooks so that said the Catalyst 9.3 driver might not work on your toughbook even though it's the same card but it was designed for another brand of laptop.

I have had good luck on the older ATI cards with the omega drivers.
If you use the factory style drivers the Catalyst should be around 6.7 for 2006.
I think there are some compatiblity problems on the Catalyst 7.0 or 7.1 and up on that card, so you may need to try the older drivers first.
ATI Omega Drivers
Are you can always mod your own.

How much more performance are you trying to squeeze out of it? -
Playing some old FPS games trying to see if newer drivers will help.
Thanks so much for that link to the Omega drivers they look like that might be what I need. -
I do a lot of FPS games on my toughbooks too. I still have a issue with F.E.A.R. on my CF-30 and CF-19. Plays fine though the first chapter and crashes at the same spot no matter what the setting are high/low. I got the dvd of FEAR with the updated version on it was going to un-install the original one I loaded with 5 or 6 cd's. I just haven't had time to do it yet. I have tried the DVD version on my CF-73 with ATI 9000 with out problems so far.
One thing to note about omega drivers on some game like HALO CE it might pop up it can't start because it doesn't have a properly assigned/certified driver. There is a work around on this I had to do on the internet. I haven't bench marked the difference in performance.
So far the best toughbooks for older gaming are.
CF-48 Mk5 and Mk6 ATI 9000
(few others with ATI 7500 cards CF-48,72, 73)
CF-73 Mk3 ATI 9000
CF-50 Mk3 and Mk5 ATI 9000
CF-50 Mk4 ATI 9600
CF-51 Mk1 ATI 9600 ( found one on ebay and confired it, not sure if all do conflicting info on panasonic web site)
CF-51 Mk2 ATI x300
CF-51 Mk3 ATI x1300
CF-52 (still working on a list for these. They have several different ATI cards with 512mb of memory HD2300, 3650, HD5650, HD 6750 There are also intel intergrated versions in this series too)
CF-31 I5 versions have good ATI graphics cards, ROB reported it played ALICE Madness Returns on high with no problems. When the 31 drops a little more in price I am going to see about picking one up with I5 an ATI card for my travel gaming machine. I have a Alienware M11X right now and like the hell out of it. -
CF-51 MK3 here with ATI X1300 video, T7200, 1.5GB that is running fairly well except that
streaming HD youtube shows high CPU utilization with complete stalls. I suspect the
video driver. I used drivers from the Panasonic site and am currently running:
ATI M52 (x1300) driver is 12/11/2005 ver: 8.203.0.0
I am about to try the OMEGA (thanks ADOR!) drivers but am wondering if I have the latest
Panasonic, if anyone on a CF-51 MK3 could check device manager to see what version
they are running.
It is interesting that a MK2 that I set up played these youtube videos just fine also with
1.5 GB of RAM. I suspect that the dual core processors might need 2GB or more to
work efficiently, not sure. RAM upgrade is coming soon. -
With XP you should be fine on the drivers if you are wanting to keep the Catalyst control center. If you are running vista or 7 you will have problems with Catalyst. Just make sure the driver is unzipped and update it in device manager. On these older ones Panasonic has stopped updating there personal ones. You may can find some updated drivers on intels site for the chipset.
-
I don't want to use Catalyst and I forgot to mention that I downloaded the ATI legacy driver
that covers many of the older models including the X1300, but when I tried the update
driver option using the driver in the unzipped folder it would not load it as if it was not
compatible or something. -
What OS are you running, may have to force it to update.
