I have a CF-51 which has a bad keyboard (maybe) so I got another keyboard from one of our members . I installed it the other day and the same thing. I have the same 6 bad numbers keys.... 1,4,7,8 and the letter o and r. Now what are the chances of 2 keyboards having the same bad keys![]()
?? I have took it all apart and checked it all out , nothing loose. Any ideas

Dirty contacts is all I can think about...

Maybe the keyboard setting in windows is wrong? Wrong country? Corrupt file?
BTW, I am looking for a black cf 51 keyboard if you want to get rid of one. I have a post in the for sale thread.

Just thinking, Did you try plugging a keyboard into the usb port?

. I have another one coming in this week or next so will try that keyboard or my 2 in it to see what happens

Dumb question, but, did the board member you got the keyboard from test it?
I was just reading a Toughbook service manual (not cf 51)and the bios checks the keyboard controller during POST. Hmmm Did you see any scratches on the traces on the MB? Check for some goofy setting in the bios? Maybe try to flash the bios. The odds on you getting 2 keyboards with the same defect seems astronomical.

I'd be looking for a broken trace/bad solder joint at the wide KB connector on the MB.

......Yes I think that's it , last night I got the magnifying glass out and had a good look and I found some " green " corrosion on the KB connector where it is soldered to the mother board. Not much but it was there. The rest of the MB looked fine . I am going to take it to work and let the IT guys have a look at it.
