    I am looking to see if I can find any kind of diagram for the LCD cable and inverter cable connectors on the motherboard of a cf-52pgnbx2m. Purchase mine on eBay damaged and have fixed everything on it, but having issues with the back-light. Checked the fuses and all seem to be good via continuity test with digital multimeter set to OHMS. However when I checked the fuses I noticed a cable going to the LCD panel was not connected to anything on the motherboard, and followed the cable to the inverter PCB. So I need to find where the inverter cable is supposed to connect on the motherboard.

    I know it should be easy to spot, but I can't find a connector that is close enough for it, and am beginning to wonder if a previous owner soldered the power connector for the inverter board from the motherboard.

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Current upgrades for those that are interested are:
    8GB DDR3 Mushkin 1066 dual channel
    intel 7260ac
    240GB Mushkin Enhanced Chronos
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    3 port express card 54 USB 3.0

    Thanks in advance.

    As far as I recall..The CF52P uses a led backlight so it's a driver and not an inverter..
    Maybe it's the incorrect top half? Different mk's had different cabling and connectors..To add to the mix a WUGA LCD will not work on a motherboard from a WXGA unit.

    Could be, the LCD has output, just no back light. I have already confirmed it is WXGA, and the LCD is brand new I just replaced it.

    That would be why. Whomever sold the toughbook did put the wrong broken LCD into my toughbook, and put the CCFL cable in as well. Thanks! Glad I am not going nuts.

    That's an example of how you could screw up on ebay. They think that when it is the same model. They can actually swap each in every parts of it.

    @ohlip
    I agree, but that is why I bought it as is, and put the effort to fix it and diagnosed each part and fixed it one at a time. At least now I can sell the upper LCD assembly as refurbished since all the boards and cables tested as working by continuity. This way I can break even by using the money I get for selling the refurbished upper.

    @safn1949
    Thanks for the recommendation. Do you know if the seller would purchase my upper CCFL LCD assembly?

    I would be very surprised if he would. Why I say this is....because most eBay sellers that sell parts buy laptops cheap and strip them down and sell them piece by piece. That is how they make a living. My guess what you would want for your top he could buy a full CF-52 for.

    If he won't that is OK, I have other places where I can sell it. I live in Madison Wisconsin, and there are tons of laptop repair shops that will probably purchase it at my full asking price.

    It is an ancient and honored tradition to go way off topic on this forum. We used to keep the Mods hopping and scared the Bejeebus out of a few forum divers.

    Interesting fact that is on topic...
    CF52 mk3..
    The WXGA units have a LED backlight
    The WUXGA have a CCFL backlight.
