I have the CF-52 and want to add the WWAN capability. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and from what I have read in this forum the GOBI card won't work with that OS. My data carrier is AT&T (not too happy with the pricing) so would consider switching.
Has anyone had luck with Sierra Wireless or other cards with Win 7 64 bit? After the usual device manager/ BIOS steps my hope is that I get a card, insert the SIM card and connect. A man can dream...

I tried install the Wireless Switcher utility (needed only for the GOBI) and it would not let me saying that Panasonic Common Components is not installed. I have installed the PCC for sure. Maybe because I don't have a card installed yet it refused. I did look any reference to PCC in my programs and did not see it.

Climbing the learning curve right now, any help is appreciated.

I can tell you that the Sierra card inside an AT&T 875U usb modem will work in a CF-29 under Win7 32 bit. The usb modems are available on EBay for about $25. Open the modem and remove the Sierra modem. Install and use the generic Sierra Watcher.

Sierra says that the generic watcher supports Win7. They don't specify 64 bit. You can always try to install the software first to see if it works.

Thanks Glen, That is a great tip. So inside there is a Mini- PCI-e card that I can install.. works for me.
I have a USB modem now with ATT and the Sierra Watcher does work with Win 7 64 bit... got it working yesterday. I will track one of these down and give it a try.
    Thanks again,
    George

Yes, there is a mini PCI-e card inside. I've also tried it, with success, in a CF-30 Mk2 and CF-19 Mk2. Just set the dip switches to HSDPA.

You tried what may have been an IBM oem Sprint card, I wonder if the generic AT&T card from the 875U would work in a CF-52. I know it will work in a CF-29 Mk5 sled, CF-30 Mk2 sled and CF-19 Mk2.

Sorry about that JB007Rules (I did read that thread, but in conjunction with another issue)... looks like you ended up taping/ disabling Pin 20... is that correct?
