CF-52 WiFi Upgrade to 802.11N - Easy!

I recently upgraded by home WiFi network to 802.11N and decided it was time to address the ToughBook CF-52 I've had for about a year and half. Model CF-52CCABVBM

I purchased an Intel 4965AGN mini PCI card on eBay for around $18.00 + shipping and installed it quite easily. Only problem (minor) was that the Torx head screw that hold the cover on is very small - don't remember the exact Torx number. I dropped by Sears and picked up a set of the small Torx head screwdrivers for around $10.00.

I had already upgraded the Inte Pro Drivers recently and when I turned on the latpop it came up right away and recognized the card with no hassle.

The WiFi screen Icon indicator jumped from 54 Mbs to 166 Mbs right away. This was one of the easiest upgrades I've done in a long time.

Previoulsy I'd upgraded my CF-29 to 802.11 G and had go buy two different Wifi cards before I could find one that the computer would recognize.

 

Congrats on your upgrade, that's the one thing I wish the 28's would take is the mini pci-e cards, well, that and a draught beer dispenser for the media bay. (functional of course)
